matt at guards makes the best LSD. actually the only LSD, other stuff well why bother change at all then.

i had several guards units. some were from when paul guard the man was still around 10+ years ago. no problem whatsoevr

BBi did a great job putting the thing in. chris, give betim a call and you will be in good hands. while you are at it, you should re-gear your box and change all the synchro

maybe a re-build with the 6.2 cup car internals would be a more economical way to go?

All you need is new plates and discs from Guard, no need to spend big on billett housing. You already have 40/60 ramps, and stock housing is plenty good enough on a stock car. And using existing housing with new internals there is no need to reset ring/pinion, work can be done with engine and transmission in car.

And here is the DIY for doing the rebuild yourself, and it's very educational anyway: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-gt2-...d-rebuild.html

I've done this job myself, and it's not hard to do. The details are important: The measurements of the internal pack before ordering parts to get the correct preload, the direction of the ramps on dissasembly so they go back in the same way, oiling everything on assembly. And have a real powerful wrench on hand to get the bolts off. Everyting is in this DIY, so it should be read carefully by anyone doing this job. Other than that, easy job.

And finally: see post #56 here on how to take the measurement of the ramps before ordering parts: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-gt2-...4-liter-4.html

The weight saving of the billet diff is significant due to location from the C of G and it is a rotating mass.

Dropped off my baby today to BBi. I'm also getting the + model due to lower weight at the rear of the car. Also getting 4.0 LWFW & Clutch, and getting the coolant lines fixed..

Looking forward to having a better and faster car (and also multiple track days!) Now the waiting game begins....

I just picked up my 6-3 from the mechanic. Upgraded LSD with Guards internals. Really looking forward to pushing the car to get an understanding. From the drive home, I felt the car more planted, way less movement, if that makes any sense. I did hit one of my favorite on ramps at speed, 35 deg right hander and the car def felt more planted. My guy said the bellvilles were shot, no tension on the plates whatsoever. I was essentially running an open diff. I wonder how much time I'm going to pick up at Buttonwillow, 13 CW. Really excited about this addition.

Matt, thanks for sending the bits over to Tony and Marco. I'm really happy to now claim membership in the Guards Club
