BBi Autosport Porsche 997 GT3 / GT3RS Bolt-In Roll Bar Now Available and Compatible with Factory Bose Subwoofer https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7639/...3b5595e3_h.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7629/...9f53053e_h.jpg After receiving a warm welcome from fellow members, BBi Autosport is pleased to present our Porsche 996 & 997 Roll Bar as part of our Street Cup parts package. BBi Autosport is proud to present our Porsche 996 & 997 Street Cup Roll Bar.The BBi Street Cup roll bar features a 2 piece design and 4130 chrome moly steel tubing (1.5" x .120" main hoop & 1.5" x 0.95" rear hoops) for excellent strength to weight ratio. With our sensible approach, the 2 piece design allows the bar to be mounted to the front seat belt mounts and to the rear strut towers (stronger mounting points), and still be compatible with the factory Bose subwoofers. Other similar roll bars on the market are not compatible with the subwoofer. For superior strength and rigidity, the bar utilizes "X" braces on both front and rear sections and each joint has been meticulously TIG welded by hand. Bolt-in installation is accomplished by using Inner Diameter Tube Clamps that are CNC turned and milled for a precise fit. These unique joints allow us to eliminate the more traditional slip fit tubes with an unsightly through-bolt and nut. Inspired by Porsche’s motorsport program, the BBi Street Cup product line represents the culmination of our winning experience in professional motorsports and the extensive R&D efforts with our in-house fabrication, suspension engineering, and engine development programs. All of the experience gained with our successful racing background combined with state-of-the-art materials and the highest quality manufacturing have yielded performance upgrades that are worthy of the Porsche 911 name. A couple of years ago I asked Betim to make me one that bolted in like the OE Club Sport (rear shock tower and floorboard mounted) and was Bose sub compatible. I must have contacted him a dozen times or more. He kept saying he didn't have a car with the OE floor mounts welded in nor did he have an OE roll bar available to take measurements from.
Has this changed at all? It's been about two years, I figure I've given you enough time to fab something up. |

I just have to say that whomever does your close up photography is an absolute master at his craft. Lighting and shadows and background and depth of field can be very challenging on this sort of photography.
Oh, by the way, the BBI tubing inserts I had welded into my car's coolant pipes were perfect, and being aluminum, the pro that did the welding did not have to work with two different metals. all the best... |

Thanks. Perhaps you can ask Betim directly tomorrow. Please remind him my car has the floorboard plates welded in from the factory which makes floorboard mounting preferable.

So I guess you haven't talked to Betim yet.
I was really hoping to get rid of the "roll bar" in my car. Hoping to use one of your products. But hoping for a couple of years has led me nowhere apparently. |

I did pass on your request to Betim and the fabrication team here. Being a one-off part that requires custom fabrication, we will need you to leave your car with us for a week and pricing will be significantly higher than the off the shelf bars. We are a bit backed up with many pending orders and in shop projects so I would have to work with the team to accommodate you. If that is acceptable, then please email me directly at Jerry@BBiAutosport.com. |

If you guys can't build a roll bar based on the same hard points as the OE Club Sport bar I'll just have to find a local source. There are plenty of race shops with fabrication capability here. I was hoping to send some cash your way. Oh well. |

Thanks Jerry but that's impossible, my car is literally all the way across the country.

I was hoping to send some cash your way. Oh well. Hi Nick, You are welcome. We would really love to earn your business and build cool things for everyone here. However, given the practical constraints of not having your car here nor the OE Club Sport Bar on hand, going with local source seems like the best bet. We would have to either take out someone's OE Club Sport bar or tear their interior apart to build one, and both options are unfeasible at this moment. - Jerry@BBi Autosport.com |
