Gosh..maybe I'm thinking about this the wrong way. My SUV has 620Hp, maybe that will make a better track car.

The shriek is even better if you go with Sharky. Was at Cars and Coffee a few weeks ago, and a guy that had heard my car on the track turned to his buddy and said "you need to be here when he leaves. The sound of his car will make you **** your pants". Nice job Alex. Way to go taking something that was already good and taking it to the next level.

LOL!

I personally was being ironic in my previous post. Plus I'm biased because I'm getting a GT4.

But seriously,I wouldn't give up a 997 GT3 for a GT4,not even a 996 GT3. Although, since I don't own any of those,I am not willing to pay what they sell for either. So the GT4 will do with a factory warranty.

Another vote for the GT3.

We own two GT3's (996, 997.2RS) and a 2011 GTS Cab with the 9A1 + powerkit & 408 HP. The 991 engines are largely carryovers from the .2 997's.

So, the differences between the engine types? The Metzger engine dynamics are vastly superior. The GTS Cab's engine isn't very exciting (as the others said).

I have both. They are different, but both fantastic.

The rawness of the 997 GT series cars is iconic. Over time they will only become more apprceiated and valued .
I too had a GT4 on order and decided to cancel.I do love the new GT4.But on the track there is nothing better than a cup car

I absolutely would regret moving from GT3 to GT4. Both would be nice but unnecessary.

Metzger's do Rule....even in the older 996 Version!!! Visceral all the way, character...plenty, and as old school a P-car feeling as your going to get in a modern supercar. Nice!

BTW, what's that rectangular thing in your roof???

Against any 911 other than a GT, no brainer.
Selling the GT3 to get a GT4? I don't think so, although bearing in mind that only about 2000 odd units of GT4's will be made before the new facelift 981 comes out, the GT4 makes a pretty persuasive case for itself to be included in your garage...$$ and space permitting.

I have the 997GT2 and can't wait for the arrival of my GT4 due next year!

I've considered this because of a current situation, but yes I think you'd (and I) would regret it. There is NO car on the road that has an engine with the character (noise, vibration, immediacy) of the Mezger and certainly no new production car that will have the same raw, unfiltered emotion the Mezger portrays to the driver.

I really like the GT4, but I'm refuse to fool myself believing its going to match the character of the 997 GT3..yes it will put down similar lap times (if not better) but it wont have the same character.
