GT3 over rev question
Hi all!
Considering on buying a 2011 GT3. Car has 22k miles and all checks out. But there is a problem!
Over rev count came back
Range 1 148 539 operating hours
Range 2 131 539 operating hours
Range 3 57 539 operating hours
Range 4 24 539 operating hours
Range 5 none
Range 6 none
Price is good, like the car. Should I be Concerned?

how many total hours?

If your unsure just do a compression and leakdown test. I had roughly the same amount of range 4 with ~250 hours of drive time since it happened and the engine still checked out okay.

99% sure it will be fine.
If you want extra caution, have seller pay for (or split) costs of leak down + compression test. This should be about 2-3 hours labor on top of a PPI.

The seller, Dealership, said they will CPO the car for 2 years / 100,000 miles. Even with 24 ignitions in range 4. So I guess its not a bad deal after all? Car has pretty much every option but PCCB and Front lift. Priced at 116K. I think Im going to pull the trigger, just wondering if anyone else has any input on this.

if they'll cpo get in writing and documented the ECU readout at time of purchase. In that case I'd pull trigger. Price with CPO seems reasonable in current market if rest of car / history checks out.

You don't get range 4 bouncing off rev limiter. You probably won't get range 1 either.
Range 1: 9000-9200 RPM
Range 2: 9200-9400 RPM
Range 3: 9400-9600 RPM
Range 4: 9600-10000 RPM
Range 5: 10000-11000 RPM
Range 6: 11000 and up RPM
Range 1: 9000-9200 RPM
Range 2: 9200-9400 RPM
Range 3: 9400-9600 RPM
Range 4: 9600-10000 RPM
Range 5: 10000-11000 RPM
Range 6: 11000 and up RPM

So apparently, cpoing a car in 2014 with a over rev in range 4 would be fine, but starting 2015 its been changed to nothing above range 3. So I am gonna let this deal go. I just would have a bit more peace and mind of a cpo car. Looks like its back to searching for cars.

Porsche will CPO a car with overrevs in range 1-3. Not in range 4-6.
There are exceptions, for instance, if the number '1' is in range 4-6, they have deemed that to be a computer glitch and will still CPO the car.
With only 24 in range 4, I would not have any concerns. That is less than a second and not in a higher range. Have a compression test done, sure, but with the modern diagnostics in the car, if the compression was bad, it would show up with a fault code in the computer and a good shop would be able to read the values and find out if anything was amiss without doing a compression test.
