Bucket seat rubbing center console

I was looking for information on whether this was a widespread problem or if I was just unlucky. I found one instance but no follow-up from a few months ago: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-gt2-...l#post11456565

And so I have decided to post a poll:

Does your gt3 or gt3rs have rubbing issues between driver's side bucket seat and center console or not?

I don't

Did you by any chance loosen the seat at any time? The spring loaded fore-aft adjuster puts tension on the rails, and if you ever loosened them, the seat may have shifted on the rails. I noticed this when I was mounting my GT-2 buckets. Try loosening the front bolts and try readjusting them. (sorry, looks like I already posted this on the earlier thread).

I don'tbelieve that was ever done to the car.

My passenger bucket seat rubs slightly against the CF center console only when there is a person sitting in it and it's fully pushed all the way back toward the rear of the car. No issues when there is nobody sitting in it but it is close. As in, I can't fit my iPhone charging cable between the seat and the console.

And I don't see any signs of the seats ever being removed. There are no marks on the bolts or the floor.

Mine rubs and makes a squeaking noise. Tried adjusting it but it didn't cure the problem. The cure for me is a UPS overnight envelope folded up and put between the passenger seat and console. It's not visible as it is below the side bolster and no one sits in the passenger seat. My wife hates the car. Cheap fix!

The problem is (for me anyway) Are legs are to short so we have slide the seat to far forward.

Alan C. 10-11-2014 09:07 PM

I have a 29" inseam so not the longest legs.

I have a carbon center console in one car and an Alcantara in the other. No squeak out of the Alcantara, but the Carbon one somedays is much louder than others. I have some seat lowering side brackets on the drivers side which also doesn't help.

To me it looks like here should have been another 1/8 of an inch built into the clearance tolerances.

Alan C. 10-11-2014 09:27 PM

That would have helped.

Place felt on either the seat of the center console to emilinate the noises. Audi does that to their cars.

Alan C. 10-11-2014 10:04 PM

I tried that first. However, it didn't work. Mine needed lateral pressure to stop the squeaking.

That might work, except my fear is it would have to be high enough up the console to be visible which doesnt interest me. The interesting thing is that Porsche knew it was a problem because the console has a piece of matte clear bra stuck to it down low to try and alleviate the problem. Its just not enough and not up to the job. It's a texture mismatch problem

In my car it is the driver's side seat but there is sufficient clearance on passenger side.

mooty 10-12-2014 02:28 AM

no. not on any of my RS with oe gt2 buckets
loosen the four mounting bolts. push the seat outboard, hold it there, tighten bolts. i bet this will cure it.
