tint and tracking
Hi guys,
Have any of you had tinted windows in car that you tracked, particularly a GT3?
My 991 GT3 has finally arrived and will be released to me in the next 2 days. I'm not a track rat, but I do HDPE 3-5x a year now, but plan to go much more often once my GT3 is in my hands
My car is Guards Red with black headlights. I plan to tint the windows (a first for me) for many reasons. It completes the red/black color scheme, particularly the black headlights and grillwork, adds a little menace, and adds privacy when teenagers/rednecks pull up next to me.
I don't plan to go particularly dark as I'm not going for a gangsta look.
My question is this. One of the salespeople at my dealership is an experienced track rat and he warned my against tinting my rearview window, even a light tint out of concerns over visibility on the track.
Have any of you tracked a car with tinted rear windows? Has it really been a problem on the track?
I can't tint the front windshield in my state. I plan to do 45% tint for all four side windows, and 55% for the rear window. Anyone see a problem with either tint amounts and tracking the car???

Yes my windows are tinted. No issues on the track with rear visibility. I don't know the tint percent but its about as dark as factory tint on the rear windows of a SUV. Easy to see out of harder to see in.

BS unless you go limo tint. Do a light tint and you won't even know it's there.

I have very dark windows, but it wasn't by choice. I bought it this way from out of state. I was planning on removing it because the car is 95% for the track, but I ended up really liking it. I've never had an issue seeing out the back. I have sensitive eyes so it actually works great for me. It's definitely not legal in CA, but neither are the Hoosiers I drive to and from the track.

I have ceramic medium tint on all my windows except the front windshield which has a clear ceramic tint. No issues at all at the track.

My E92 has full tint. I can see fine out the back. You may not be able to see me tap the rear view mirror to expect a point, but I can see out fine. I changed the angle on my gT3 wing, and I can barely see anything out the back now. It is worse than the tint.

That's why you should buy an RS with higher wing uprights.

with a 9000rpms and a set of R6s, just drive Flat-Out - no need to look in the rear view mirror anyways
if Clarke or Grady are behind you, you won't have to worry about a point-bye because their car will be on the apex before you get there anyways

apply the tint

Tint is Fine, and preferred in my opinion. It will not cause an issue.
If it is a race car most sanctioned groups SCCA, BMWCCA, etc do not allow tinted windows. IN A RACE CAR ONLY. DE's doesn't matter.
