Default non R Comps for GT2

Hey guys,

I'm really sorry to make yet another tire thread but this has a little twist on it. Most of the threads I found related to the NA variety of cars and those have been exceptionally helpful to me in the past so I figured the hive mind here could help me out.

I'm wondering for the guys out here with GT2/GT2RS's what tires they have run for like 90% street 10% track.

According to all the marketing the Pilot Sport Cup N2+ or whatever nonsense is specially developed for the 2RS but it is kind of over the top expensive for a car that is mainly street driven.

Have folks with these cars tried out Super Sports or the other options? I'd like to go with something cheaper, something that is less scary when there's 4 drops of rain on the ground, but not give up too much grip.

As it is, keeping the car in a straight line at WOT in 2nd and 3rd isn't easy so I know even less grip is going to make it worse, but I can live with that for better wear and a better price...

The Cup 2's are much less sensitive to moisture but not sure if in your sizes yet. Same with Hankook RS3's which would be my first choice. If neither are avail, MPSS are really great street tires. Not much better out there. Last long and have good grip.

Limited choices in GT2 sizes.
Bridgestone RE-11's are the only extreme performance tire I know of in those sizes. Good street tire, but a bit loud. Decent in the rain. Heavier than some, but with the hp of a GT2, won't be noticeable! Very good to excellent on the track.

Take a step down performance-wise and the MPSS is available in your sizes. Very good street tire. Only fair on the track (in my experience, some people love them). For a 90% street car, it would be a good choice.

Not a GT2...but a wide body...I run Yokohama AD08R on my GTS. Great great tire for some track duty and street. I run it in auto cross too...and win with it.

Yoko AD08R is a great tire - my current favorite on the Cayman. Not available in the correct GT2 rear size though. The GT2 has a massive 325 width rear tire to try and get most of the power to the pavement. Really limits the choices. It comes with 235/35/19 front and 325/30/19 rear as the OEM sizes.

Oops forgot about the 325 size...actually I thought GT2 and GT3RS came with 245 fronts?...no?

Big fan if my MPSS for street trim ant NTs (18") for track. VID997 has a VERY sorted 7TT and loves the REs. Can't go wrong with either.

245/325 for my car (GT2RS)...

Just to close the loop here I ended up picking up a set of MPSS because this car will see so few DE's that it seemed like a better buy than some of the other suggestions (but I thank you all for the input.)

Initial impressions, and this could be just because the MPSC-N2's were almost shot, but the car actually hooks up in 2nd the whole way through the rev range. I was pretty shocked at that. The ride is SO much nicer and quieter than the MPSC...

Will get as many laps as I can at Laguna before the sound police ban me and see what I think of them on track.

Have to say a huge thanks to my friends at BR Racing for getting tires + fast shipping and the oil change, brake fluid flush as well. Love stopping by there.

Cheers
