Maybe this is where the problem started for the original thread owner All I know is that Both Bramen Miami, (where I purchased)and Hennessey Atl verified the CPO. I have had the car for 4/5 years and never had the first issue. I would lay blame for the engine problem either from the installation itself or possibly using the stock pulley instead of the RS pulley/bolt kit.
Ditto. On year 4 of 9 for my CPO and all of the LWFW work is covered.

Great to hear another one...I also added a Sharky Bypass ...installed by dealer and covered by CPO...

For the record, I believe the pulley is different only on the 997.1. On the 3.8 motors, same pulley for RS and nonRS.

A very nice ATI damper arrived in the post from Santa (AKA Jamie)

Cheers.

As long as you're ok knowing that, have fun. I put a LWFW on my 4.0.

If the engine is out, it's good practice to re-torque the cam bolts too.
Interesting!
Do you sure that´s about the sinlge mass flywheel reasoned...

Is the 3.8 with dual mass flywheel much more reliable?
Same reliability as 3.6 GT3 engine?

Thanks

Yes the 3.8L and 4.0L are both single mass (not dampened) flywheel and both suffer from a harmonic that can do a number of things (spit out cam bolts, flywheel bolts, break oil pump gears etc...).

Our ATI harmonic dampener helps to reduce the torsional harmonic vibrations in the crank shaft.

A couple points of confusion. We're not talking about balancing the crank shaft, we're talking about reducing the twisting oscillations (torsional harmonics).

PM or email for more info!

Around 09/10 the specification for torquing the flywheels on GT3 race cars changed to a torque angle 30 nw first then 90 degrees or so I really can't remember the exact figures, anyway it was previously 65 flbs or so when I check it with a electronic torque wrench that reads all factors the new spec was 104 lbs ft.
On a 10 X 1.25 10.9k bolt that is a lot of load but that is what Porsche does.

regards

Anyone know the cost of a crated '10 GT3 factory engine?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Likely way cheaper to build it into something more fun and durable than a crate engine. What happened to it? Anything salvageable? Or just curious

Jamie, is this a problem on a 7.1 GT3?

7.1 GT3 doesn't suffer as severely as the 7.2 (3.6L vs 3.8L) but it's still there...

Can this be installed without removing the engine?
