Replaced my air filter yesterday and decided to do some detailing after. Waiting to put everything back together until all the replacement grommets and hardware come in. Had some broken clips and such that I wanted to replace while I'm in there.

cheap tooth brushes from target
a few detailing brushes harder nylon. Do not use metal as it can scratch the engine casing.
Automotive style Q tips
simple green
1 can of engine degreaser for the thicker layers. Makes for fast work but I’m not into using a ton of this as its pretty toxic.
Ace in the hole….a fabricated power wash handle, turn a power wash gun into a pistol. Cut the rod down, thread and screw on a new end for the attachments.
master blaster for the dry.
Would have done a DIY but it would have destroyed my go pro or iPhone.
oh, I also laid down thick furniture pads to soak up anything that came off the car, including the water from the power washer. Tossed the pads in the trash afterwards. Makes for a super quick clean up.

Thanks for the tips. I had a crack at the top end of my engine today. Will crawl under the car next weekend if I have time.

Never even thought about it that’s a great idea. Maybe I should clean the top first before the bottom LOL

Please excuse the bad photography: Houston 9/11 car event downtown. Hennessey was also there unveiling his new overpriced kit car, but the rest of the show was fun, despite being small for a Houston event (maybe 60 cars).
Lots of stuff I didn't end up taking pictures of, but should have in hindsight. I'm sure the Cars & Coffee instagram site has a bunch.
My unassuming little GT3 after everyone else left (we wanted to wait so we could hear the other cars)
