Any of you in the Northern VA area?
I am moving there soon. Have a couple questions about reputable shops, the dealers, the best events, et cetera.
Also, if you happen to know a good insurance broker, I'm looking for that too.

I worked in DC but lived in Ashburn VA for 12 years and just recently moved down to Atlanta. I would tell you to check out Funktion Motorsport in Sterling VA. It is right by Dulles airport and they specialize in Porsche, MB, BMW, and Audi. Walid Achi is the owner and runs a great shop. When my MB was out of warranty I used him over the dealerships but with my warrantied 911 I went to Tysons Porsche in Tysons Corner(closer to DC). I would deal with Chad Morrison ONLY (service manager). He is a great guy, honest, and won't try to suggest work that your car doesn't need. He came highly recommended by Walid at Funktion.

I lived in McLean, VA for 20+ years and just recently moved to NM. I bought my Cab from Tyson's Porsche and they are great to deal with. They also organize some nice events at their dealership but also sponsor the Polo events at the Plains (Twilight Polo at Great Meadow). You can get free passes and they offer free drinks and food there. I also used Intersport Performance in Tyson's for service and again, great guys to deal with.
A great event is Katie's Cars & Coffee (http://katiescarsandcoffee.com/) every Saturday in Great Falls, VA. That's where you meet all the car guys.
A nice day trip is to go out on 66W, take I-81 S and 55W. In Wardensville, stay on the old 55W which brings you to Moorefield, WV. In Moorefield, take Rt. 7 S (S Fork Rd.) which ends in Rt. 33. Take Rt. 33E and then you have 2 options. Either take I-81N to 66E back home or continue on Rt. 33 over the mountains (recommended), take 29N to 231N (Sperryville). Take 211 to 522N and then take 647 to Marshall. From there again you can take some backroads or hop onto 66E. I have done this many times on my motorcycle, it's about 320 mi. round trip.

AutoSportSystems Group in Fairfax. I switched from Intersport to them.....also agree on Chad at Tysons. A great guy and very helpful.

Another GT3 in Fairfax here. You will like the Porsche environment in the a DC area: many enthusiasts, several Porsche dealers, and several quality independents. Every shop has its loyal customers and a couple of horror stories; I have used ASG since 2000. Many quality tracks available within a day's drive.
Off topic but same geographic area: I am looking for one person in NoVA that wants to buy a Durametric Enthusiast cable. They offer 20% discount if ordering two (one buyer/shipping address).

Thanks everyone, good leads! Look forward to catching up with most of you in the next few months. The Seattle crew is amazing, so I am hoping that the community in VA is just as active.

Hate to say this, but...please stay off of 647.
These back roads are farm roads and many of us still use them as such.
While I understand the desire one might have to "exercise" his Porch or motorcycle, please do so on track, not on our back roads.
