It's only worth $140K if someone buys it at that price.

I believe that the car will sell near that price, many realize that these green and orange cars are special factory colors and a driving experience unmatched. I wouldn’t sell mine for that price I am waiting for over $200k. You may laugh it will get there in the not so far of future.

Rs are great, especially if you own one already. but at such a premium over a regular car at this point? I don't think so. Wrap the car in green and put in the ltwt flywheel yourself if you must.

For a 997.1RS it is a high asking price and the car will most likely end up in the hands of a buyer who wants the RS "orange" to have as his garage candy and for the odd cars n coffee sunday.... The buyer wouldnt care about the better 997.2RS.... It would all come down to the "wow" factor and "dream car" of the buyer.

With this mileage, tuck it away for 10-20 years and it is a $200k+ car at Sloan

I might consider selling if someone offer 120k
I would use the $ to get a trailer and an older spec cup car for track.

When prices are on the raise some sellers will go for the home run on the asking price in a hot market.

I feel the need to remind everyone that asking prices are just that... asking prices (i.e., wishes). Sale prices are the key metric, but sadly that isn't as "public" as asking prices.

There have been a lot of .2 GT3 RS's listed above $150k, and a handful of .1's listed above $120k. And many of them have been sitting on the market for several months.

If you want an Orange one, just be patient. While there aren't a lot on the market right now, Orange was the most common 997.1 GT3 RS color in the US:

(Data from the GT3 Registry)
2007 USA: 229 total = 49 black, 25 silver, 90 orange, 25 green, 40 white
2008 USA: 93 total = 19 black, 5 silver, 32 orange, 18 green, 19 white
USA: 322 total = 68 black, 30 silver, 122 orange, 43 green, 59 white

GT3 Registry represents 322 of 413 shipped to USA, 78% of total USA shipments

I like saying "I've got one of the five silvers of '08" yeah (and hey, it's got a little orange in it!)

Not saying this is a bubble because that would mean a crash but all of this sounds like tech and real estate....it's only going up up up! My prediction is this, once the 991 rs comes out all the .2 owners who need the latest an greatest will need to unload their cars and that will bring down prices of the .2s. Then all but the super low mileage bubble warped .1s will dip too. May not dip as much as the .2s but an adjustment to last years prices. Just my opinion. While I still want a .1, if I can't find the right one .2 it is. Not a bad consolation prize. Only time will tell.

I've said many times, that in my opinion, the run up in mid-2013 all the way through end of 2013 is a bubble. Right now, we're mostly at the peak, and have hovered there for a while.

Still, I expect these cars to hold value pretty well. But, having ridden the run ups, and busts, of the previous 2 major bubbles, I'm always wary of this stuff. I want my cars to appreciate in value organically, not artificially as they have been over the past 9+ months because of crazy easy money.
