Front suspension clunk over small bumps.

Hello... Another question... Please don't hate me!

Got the GT3 1 week ago with 41k miles, CPO from Atlanta. Drove it up to Ohio and all was good on the nice Southern Roads.

After a day or two of driving in Ohio I hear a clunk coming from the front, particularly the FR when I go over small bumps. Bumps that are just enough so the suspension compresses and then unloads.
Clunk is on the unloading part of the suspension movement.

Any idea what could be causing it? When I was under the car during the PPI everything looked stock.

Very similar to an E46 M3 that I had with aftermarket sway bars and lowering springs. Due to the lowering springs and stock struts the sway bar experiences an abnormal range of motion and caused the swaybar end link ball joints to wear withing a week or so. Clunked the rest of the time I had it. (Same sway bar on a full race car never clunked)

Thx!

Sometimes it is just the spring unloading/loading under full droop, which happens over certain bumps.

Also, put a wrench on every front suspension point, they can come loose over time.

"Small bumps"... certainly not full droop.....

I was getting that clunk, and it turned out to be a loose sway bar end link. Just tighten it up, and maybe use a tiny bit of loc-tite.

I had this happen to a friends GT3. Sounds like the exact same thing. It is the top screw that bolts to the actual strut. Not the 3 small bolts, but the large center one.

Hmmm... How do you get to the top of the strut/camber plate area.

Just pop the bonnet and tighten. I think you might need a special socket for it. Can't remember off the top of my head.

Will give it another look. I though I had popped open all the plastic tops/lids and did not see the top of the struts. It's not in/under the metal fender right?

Its the large center bolt.

I have a clunk that comes from the rear left... Happens over uneven surfaces... Could that be the rear sway bar?

I am familiar with the bolt but have not seen what has to be removed to get to it. I dont have the car with me to check... But is there a specific cover in the frunk that needs to just pop out or do I need to start dissembling the black plastic panels to the side of the frunk?

happened to my 977.1 previously, turned out to be the top hat/strut area pointed out above. when i was researching, a lot suggestions also pointed to the front sways. good luck!

Certainly check first for loose hardware. I recently had a clunking noise on one side in the front even though everything was tight. It turned out to be excessive play in the strut bearing because of worn bushings in the camber plate. Replacing the camber plates (with Tarett plates) fixed the problem.

Aside from clunking, does anyone get creaking sounds? I haven been getting a creaking sound from the front of my car
