sell me your 997.2 GT3 RS please...

Hi from Seattle! :bigbye:

New to this forum... been looking for a 997.2 GT3 RS but slim pickings out there so I thought I'd post.

Specifically looking for a grey/red or white/gold with race decals, stock, or slight mods. Not particular about mileage or whether or not it's been tracked... more concerned about how it's been maintained...

If anyone knows of one for sale, please let me know. Would love to join your GT3 fraternity. Thanks!

hunanbeef 08-18-2013 05:10 PM

crack house... yes. I can't stop looking at RS pictures online. Make it stop.

Izzone 08-18-2013 05:12 PM

Hmmmm I might have one for sale....exceptionally maintained, 25K miles, has been tracked but since retired to street duty

hunanbeef 08-18-2013 05:34 PM

Hey Randy - more info? pictures? Thanks man.

stujelly 08-18-2013 05:41 PM

Great track car.

Thanks....Im really struggling with selling it, but racing is too much fun....if I'll just buy another vintage race car....probably 2.0L 911

mooty 08-18-2013 07:48 PM

furthermore, Randy's car was an ex-mooty!
then flogged at Sebring....
oh, the pedigree.....

Thread restored and many thanks for supporting the Rennlist community!

Now,guys; let's find this gentleman a good car. :)

Best,

This should be a link, fingers crossed, to two private party sellers. In some states, private party sales mean no sales tax to pay upon registration... and that's a big plus.

jenk12m - wow... beautiful car, but I'm looking for something a little more stock with decals. Call me crazy... I like the stickers.

I saw those... that grey/orange is very close to what I'm looking for... but I'd like the front axle lift option... feel like I'd be bottoming out a little too much where I live, work and play.

I live in Seattle so I have to fork out 10% to register the car no matter where I get it from. :banghead:

I too am looking, but will post a separate thread out of respect to OP

hunanbeef 08-28-2013 01:10 AM

Bump... still looking... and after much thought and consideration, decided that it has to be white/gold or grey/gold mostly stock RS. Red wheels are just too much for me... and the girlfriend said she won't get in it... sigh... Seattle Prius girls...

If you have one or know of one please shoot me a note. Looking to pay $130k - 140k depending on options and miles... seem fair?

If you were price indifferent, Ray Joseph has your car at RPM Sportscars. I have dealt with Ray and his business model is fairly straightforward...he is FORENSIC in going over cars and he only takes the very best in the U.S. into his inventory. You just dont even need to look at the car, if Ray has it, it is perfect. In return, he charges a significant premium over market. His buyer is someone that is willing to pay extra for the piece of mind. A lot extra. He has a 1500 mile RS in your color combo. My guess is that he would take around $155k for it, but that is just a guess. Only you can decide if its worth $15k over your budget. For me, with a regular GT3 being closer to $100k with similar miles/condition, I found it hard to justify 50% more for that particular car...although I did stalk it for awhile going back and forth. There are Rennlisters with great low mileage RS cars available but they dont match your color requirement from my research.

Hey thanks mrsullivan... that's the color combo I'm looking for and basically brand new... just wish it had sport bucket seats for that price! Seems like there are a number of grey/red RS' in the 130k range but the scarcity of grey/gold or white/gold seems to be driving that price up. $159k asking seems like a lot but he'll probably get it.

Congrats on the GT3 purchase... I'm sure you will be happy... and 50% richer.

mooty 08-28-2013 03:07 AM

at this point of the game, and you want to be picky then you have to pay up.
i have dealt with joeseph at rpm. doesnt discount. but his cars are good and i AM PICKY.
some ppl buy cars by comparing prices.
some find the car they want, they just pay for it.
lots of garbage out there. very few good cars.

$159,000 and then I get to spend another $6-7k to swap out the seats...? I'm sure it's a lovely car but no thanks. I'm willing to be patient... and picky.

mrsullivan 08-28-2013 08:52 AM

i agree with Mooty... I deal with RPM because I dont have to worry about condition...

but some of us also cant afford to not look at the price tag... someday perhaps :D

he's a dealer, needs to make money.
if you are patient, you will find something.
though i personally witnessed two transaction this month, one at 141 the other at 160+. both are incredible cars. unfortunately not in your color combo.

it will show up i am sure.

oh, there is one gray/silver car i know of at 140 or so. but i am not 100% certain he wants to sell just yet.

If you are interested, here is mine. Although, white with red graphics.
http://www.gt3rsregistry.com/2011GT3RS/vin/3096.htm

(Full front clear, MPSS tires, 12k, CPO for another 3yrs as of 7/30/2013). PM if you might be interested)

white with gold

hunanbeef,

they are out there...

http://www.pbase.com/wanderingpurist...0/original.jpg

http://www.pbase.com/wanderingpurist...1/original.jpg

no front lift, carbon fiber bucket seats - very upright, no adjustments except fore and aft, but surprisingly comfortable: I drove it from Houston to LA in 2 days by myself, didn't even feel tired at the end.

just rolled over 13k, CPO till 8/1/16

Funny thing, I expected the GT3RS to be a little more low profile than the Mac and Bulls...Nope.

Even so, I wouldn't consider a trade for either, even straight across, model year for model year. Nope, not even a stack of 1500 Benjamins...

You guys are making me feel better about spending a $140k+ on a used car...

I'm supposed to find out tomorrow if I get this RS at Barrier. Seems silly that I have to wait in line to buy a car but I guess we're all a little silly if we're here.

Not a done deal but thanks everyone for all the leads, PM's, and general advice. Y'all have been super cool.

Steve Theodore 09-04-2013 10:01 PM

hunanbeef,

I'm not sure this will help, but just in case. I bought a white/gold RS earlier this summer and live in your area. I needed to have the factory gold (which was thought to be Weissach Gold, later disproven) matched to do some wheel repair, and I found a guy in Bellevue who does PHENOMENAL work on both wheel repair and also paint matching.

My point being if you find a car that doesn't quite meet your color standards such as white/red, this guy can absolutely do the paintwork to make it the correct factory gold on the wheels and front bumper. My car is the proof, and you're more than welcome to check it out sometime if you'd like to see his work.

Best wishes, and I hope you find an RS to call your own soon. They really are magnificent cars! :)

Hey Steve... thanks for the heads up. Really appreciate that. Yes, starting to think repainting may be a good option if the one I'm after falls through. I would love to see your GT3 sometime. Would be good to meet other GT3 guys in Seattle also. I'll shoot you a PM with my contact info.

Hi hunanbeef,

I have a 2011 RS White on Gold. I am the original owner. My care has 11k miles and zero over revs. It's a weekend car for 90-95% of its life and DE track for the remainder.

Let me know if you are interested.

PJ Alex 09-08-2013 10:46 PM

Congratulations on the purchase!

I know how difficult it is to find the right car. I am going to be looking for 140k or more on my car. Just curious...from having just bought a RS, does it sound like my price is in the right territory?

Thanks,
Peter

you need to become a member.
then we can let you know your asking price's reality.
some of us buy and sell more RS's than most major dealer in the country.

Thanks guys! Not entirely official yet but $$ is down. The guys at Barrier are being cool about my trade-in. Giving me till the 15th to try and sell it otherwise we have agreed on a trade-in value.

Anyone need an extra 997.2 S? Anyone? Anyone?!

Got to test drive her this last weekend... :) Everything everyone (except Mooty) has ever said about the RS is true!... and that exhaust! Pure music. Who needs a stereo right? Can't wait to get her on the track.

interesting that in other pictures the "white gold" looked more like silver to me...in these pics, you can definitely see the "gold" in the decals, mirrors, wheels, etc... very cool, almost a bit retro... i like
