Default Weekend with 10/10ths [video]

Just had a nice weekend with 10/10ths Motorsports at Putnam Park. Weather was great, and it's a really fun group. Usual DE rules for novices and intermediates, and open passing with or without signals for instructors and advanced drivers.

With cars on track ranging from spec Miatas to NASCAR Nationwide stock cars, you really have to pay attention! Here's a little video of me trying to follow a Mazda Grand-Am car. This was just my 3rd and 4th day in the RS, so I'm still going up the learning curve with it. This car is a lot more fun to drive than my 996 Turbo, even though it has 100 hp less.

Where is this racetrack? it is my type of racetrack, lots of run off, looks super safe, different turns, no walls waiting for you to hit them.

Awesome DE Cup racetrack!!!

Nearest town is Greencastle, IN. Less than an hour west of Indy off of I-70. They get some of the Indy car teams out there testing from time to time.

It's about 45 minutes from my house - I probably have at least 3000 miles on this track. It's not terribly complicated, but there are some turns with variable camber across the track that make it interesting. And it's 45 minutes away! I wouldn't recommend coming up from Florida for it, unless it was for the club race.

Agree with you - it's very safe. The guardrail going onto the long straight (turn 10) used to be right next to the exit curb. Don't ask me how I know. Other than that, you have to go pretty far off before you can hit anything.

Trakcar, buy TPD ASAP. We load Rustang and Cockster. and hit these tracks before snow covers them in about 60 days for another year. You haul, I work.

We run each car every day, and swap cars. Cockster has AiM and SmartyCam. Many wheels, and track pads. I'll get rotors, and 275 RA1. I'll buy the left over 245 RA1s sitting around.

-Putnam
-Watkins Glen
-Road America
-Lime Rock (nahh, boring)
-Road Atlanta (nahh, boring)
-AMP
-Roebling Road
-Mid-Ohio
-NJMP (nahh, too boring)
-Some of the Great White North tracks with the usual average-motion exotic car drivers.

I'll bring a set or two of slicks in case we need to put the typical slowly driven Aero Beetle in the rearview mirror, and documented in rear facing GoPro.

I did most of them already, but yes, I have to catch the ones I didn't and redo a few of them where I left way too much time on the table.

The "you haul, I work" worked great to Randy's benefit, even though he cant spell my dictated e-mails but more likely pretended so he really did not have to do anything.. Sadly those days are gone for the unforeseen future.

Trailer is 2 months out, working on details this week.
Free days where I can play Robber Duck is 6 months out.

Next mancation will be West coast
The Rustang nor Coxter wont last 2 weekends we need a proper dependable car.

He also thinks the Coxter will last more than 2 weekends. Must be Absinthe day.

Coxster is being replaced in a few months, Barbie car.

Fiat should go too, I like the idea of a 360 Challenge and a F430 manual, or a F430 CH and a 360 Modena manual. Track car can play CCR and HSR (so Randy brings the food and I bring the drinks). Street car for weekends and my parking lot acrobatic contests at the local malls and stadiums.

Very safe track. This is my home track (even though I am 2.5h away in Louisville). The garages are extremely nice, with two fans in every bay, and two air outlets in every bay. Parking is a breeze, and the Clubhouse (albeit for members and guests only) is completely kickass. The tower has air conditioning and a classroom for yellow and green groups at DE. You are correct, makes a great DE venue--you go off track, you get dusty. That's it. No cement barriers lurking. Checkout PUTNAMPARK.COM for some pics.

Lots of places to stay if you go. Plainfield exit (just outside of Indy on 70W on way to track) has many hotels (Cambria is nice), but I like to go into Greencastle and stay at the Inn at DePauw, on the grounds of DePauw University.
