Consider yourself LUCKY really, since your trackdays for the last 2 1/2+ years have been "free" when it comes to hub and bearings wear...
We "poor" 2011 GT3 guys have to buy those ourselves later on
But then again, I don't track much anymore so I should be okay

Components to be timed out as follows here apparently...

-a log book of track use to be kept (kms below refer to track use)
- rear hubs, bolts and bearings to be replaced after every 7000kms
- rear bearing housings, front hubs, bolts and bearings after every 14000kms
- front bearing housings every 28000kms

Apparently, by the time the RSs came to market, the hubs had been revised... This affects cars built before 04/10... The maintenance schedule will apply to all...

Awaiting mail out to confirm all of this so take it with a grain of salt for the moment...

Ching, ching!!!

I'll be expecting all hub and bearing components changed by Porsche to restart my log schedule before I adopt their crazy maintenance schedule!
Doesnt surprise me, cup cars have a time out cycle....dont see why street cars dont

This is only going to get more complex. Some tracks have heavy banking that will increase loads and therefore shorten the expected life of the hubs like Pocono, Daytona, etc. Using curbs and rough tracks like Sebring might also shorten life of parts. Basically this sucks for peace of mind driving with CL's is my thought. I'm not sure if after market brakes & wheels, slicks etc actually increase loads but Porsche was pointing at them as a cause of failure ( BS- every brand car has aftermarket wheels etc ) Ask Geoff.

It's ironic that the Porsche centerlocks, with their supposed racing influence, are better suited to street driving than to the track. Thanks to the OP and posters for keeping us all informed on this issue.

Hi All

Contacted my dealer earlier this week and was told

Rear Hubs and Bearings and this affects cars built 02/09 to 4/2010

They did fail to mention the new maintenance schedule though which is interesting, I am awaiting my letter for further details as I have a 2/2010 build.

Just because a car doesnt have centerlocks doesnt mean it shouldnt have a time schdule for bearings, axles, hubs ect

I guess the difference is with 5-lugs at least the wheel stays CONNECTED to the car when hubs, bearings, etc. fail; making the maintenance between the two styles significantly different.

The geniuses at VW found a way to make killer money on the Aero Beetles post-sale.

Publish a rigorous and expensive maintenance schedule, with $$$ bills as early as every 30 track days. Recall 510 units for which a very small number will show up at dealers, then charge the maintenance costs on over 1,100 cars sold with CL, awesome, $12k/year on additional maintenance to Porsche dealers, more profits than selling the actual car.

Awesome.
