So are they planning to cover the $4K job every maintenance cycle, or is this something we're supposed to embrace? Sounds like they are doing it once for the 2010 folks like me...I may try to cut a deal with a conversion to 5lug...

the replacement frequency of 15000km/mile ...
this has nothing to do with CL or not.
all my track cars, even the old GT3 that came with 5 bolts, gets new wheel bearing and hub every year. i dont know how you guys get bearings to last that long. i can HEAR, in fact, when i raced PRC, the car next to me can HEAR my wheel bearing....)@(&)!*^$)!... i kill them in about 30 track days (3 hours per day, 100 hour more or less) this is on 6gt3. so i just change them out every year. hub IS a wear item....

one my my RS is CL, the other is 5 lug. for me it's not about safety, i feel both are safe if done PROPERTY and timed out correctly, if porsche doesn't say how often, just do it sooner than later. like i FLUSH my brake oil every weekend event (regardless of i have motul, endless, or srf) i just do it.

i changed one car to five lugs b/c for ME, i can get them on and off MUCH faster than i can with CL. that's the only reason.

but porsche is at fault for not CLEARLY disclose the "interval of replacement" and also the BS about "UAD".... wtf is that? i never drive my cars aggressively. i am usually slower than pat long or bergmeister. so i cannot be all that aggressive right?

An that's the REALLY, really bad news. MY2010 or not, track your car or not, when you sell your GT3, a prospective (smart) buyer will want that wheel MX done if the ODO is even remotely close to an 15k km interval... AND as a buyer I would in addition discount the purchase price by the future cost of that MX... So, if not part of the warranty or OUT of warranty, this could reduce the price of an average GT3 by about $10-15K

Now for the serious trackers like the Florida Boys (and Mooty) it seems like they're changing their hubs every year anyway (or at least should) but the guy (or gal) who bought the GT3 for "Cars and Coffee" on a Sunday only is really screwed -since he's not going to wear his wheels out but will have to deal with this nonetheless
The RS might escape this mess -for a while- if some genius (Porsche?) figures out (and tells us) why a wide-body shouldn't have this problem -OR why the narrow-body is more affected but in the long-run, any CL equipped car, tracked or not, will have to deal with this.

PS: I'm thinking that it wouldn't be a bad thing, given the circumstances, to belong to one of those 510 GT3 Recall owners - at least you get one set of "free" rear hubs etc.

You must not be driving unusually aggressive... Must have something to do with that Florida sun and those kegs of beer...

What VIN range is your GT3? That may help to determine some sort of top/mid/bottom range for 2010 owners. Thanks!

I believe covered cars have been contacted. No master VIN # list available.

Is the pending recall limited to the GT3 or is the RS included?

Are you referring to the first (AB01) or the second recall (AC05)? According to the Porsche Partner Network pdf posted above, communications are scheduled for "early" Jan 2013. The campaign is an FYI and preliminary notification only to keep dealers in the loop.
