As the 2nd owner of a '11 GTS, I'm worried too. Along with the ownership manual was a one page card about a change to torque specs. So I guess the first owner got that card in the mail and took it to the dealership and had it done and left the card in folder. Or I hope he didn't get the card in the mail and just stuck it in the folder and didn't have it done at the dealer. Then again the dealership took the car on a trade in for a panamera and sold it to me so it should have been done.
Sorry I'm just talking to myself out loud and hope I won't have any future problems. I will probably do the 5 lug conversion down the road. With the set of wheels I want and the cost of the 5 lug conversion parts and labor, it's definitely not cheap. Plus I plan on doing maybe 3 to 4 track days a year. There's one this weekend and I'm not sure if I should go if it's still raining. I wouldn't want to do my first DE in the rain. Then again less people might show up and it might be even more fun.

Summary:
Porsche is recalling certain model year 2010 911 GT3 vehicles manufactured May 15, 2009, through February 11, 2010. The rear wheel hubs may be prone to failure under certain driving conditions. Also, the original, suggested maintenance intervals may be insufficient to prevent wheel hub failure.
Consequence:
If the rear hub fails, there may be a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy:
Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will replace the wheel hubs on the rear axle free of charge. The service interval specifications will also be revised and provided to owners as part of Porsche's owner notification letter. The recall is expected to begin in December 2012. Owners may contact Porsche at 1-800-767-7243.
Notes:
Porsche's safety recall number is AC05. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

They're still working on it. My dealer had no new info since the preliminary notice. Porsche NA doesn't have any additional info..."well call you when the campaign is ready." ...I'm excited to go test out a cayenne loaner in some snow covered parking lots.

Talked to Porsche today and they have not even pulled the list of VINs that will be getting notifications. They said first notifications will go out mid-January. They did make a comment immediately about track versus road driving. They are advising owners to not track their cars until this recall is performed, but normal road use is acceptable. Fortunately it is the off season, so not an issue here. Please spread the word to other GT3 owners.
