We live in California. No need to drive in rain.
Same thing with cycling - post-rain-ride bike clean up takes longer than the ride itself. If it rained all the time I'd suck it up and just do it. In socal I can find something else to do the 6 days/year it rains...

Funny u mentioned Reed. So early into school year she knows quite a few Reed freshman. She goes to downtown with her friends hits parties outside of school and meets other college freshman. Definitely a college vibe town. Portland is a great city. Mike

So, our idea is that we have an organization or an individual handle the track day. For the PAC/NW guys this could dovetail in with Porsche Train events very easily as the format as suggested by Savyboy is identical to a Porsche Train event. This is a mutually beneficial arrangement; by hosting a DE time trial, the organizer gets a boost in attendance, while we get a place to run our time trials with little hassle. So it looks like possibly two events are covered by existing organizations if one is Porsche train and Reno is hosted by Savyboy.
That leaves us in search of organizers or groups to host the other events.
So it's all good to express an interest in one track or another, but unless there is a sympathetic organizer or group to what we want to do we are just dreaming.
So you guys in Cali and/or Nevada, is there a private group that is willing to host us for an event? Again, this need not be an exclusive deal, it can easily be held in conjunction with an open track day, those in the DE cup will only be differentiated by their transponders. Details on passing rules etc. might need to bend according to the organizer, but really most open lapping days are pretty easy going and geared toward the advanced driver.
So let's start there- what clubs or organizations are willing to do this for events down south?

PJ: See above comments- As long as Porsche train has the room for the entrants and has no issues with the DE cup cars with transponders, then the DE cup is held at one or more of our Porsche train days we schedule next year. No extra effort required- our locals can opt in the DE Cup or not, their choice, but we all share the track at the same time. See? Easy, peasy.

Let's keep the thread somewhat on topic guys otherwise it'll be a thousand pages.
I've updated the initial post based upon thread comments, and will continue to do so as things move forward (or not).
I'm glad to offer up my services in regards to event timing/transponder rental only and have someone else do the rest. PS- we can't call what we are doing a time trial if anyone wants car insurance from Lockton Affinity, they only insure recreationally timed events. And what we are planning to do is recreational and not a race "at all".
