Default 3.6 (c)upgrade

what started as a simple fall refresh of the brakes has gone a little off the tracks

i generally operate with the moto of do nothing or do everything while in there

so

the brake refresh turned into:
- new rear calipers
- Cup puck holders
- Cup caliper studs

decided to weld the coolant lines (you can see how this would happen while changing the brake pads

Don't let the expensive engine hoist scare you

also close to the brake pads is the shifter cable
- going to give the 6 cup cable a try to see if it is livable

with the wheels off for brake servicing, i could tell that my 400 cell OE cats were tired of seeing 8400rpms (I have x-ray vision) so I ordered some 200 Cell cats

but they didn't fit in the OE headers perfectly so I needed somewhere to put them so I'm putting them in here

which is attached to this

which is attached to this (basically an M&M 200 cell Cup setup)

while the engine was out to get at the coolant lines and was removed to make the caliper rebuild easier, I found this wing and deck lid, which should be on their way if all goes well - being lighter it will make the re-install safer for the mechanic who has a bad back (07/08 Cup Wing & uprights for my 07 car)

I would like to thank everyone who helped me spend money.

The exhaust system
- Eddie is likely going to make a post but this is the M&M rear exhaust with side delete with M&M 200 cell headers
- basically, I was looking for weight loss and some 200cell cats to add some high rpm HP but want to keep the OE software / smog legal
- and I wanted NO drone
- I would have kept the OE headers but by the time you buy new 200 cell cats, cut out the old cats, and replace and weld, and thus butcher an OE part, there is no point (I can always sell these in the future)
- I expect only very high rpm HP gains + a little weight loss
- the wing is not a done deal yet but we have an agreement (and I stole Paul's picture from his car)

I believe the car now qualifies for the stock cheater latte category for all Florida DE events if I can get there this winter.

Refreshing brakes turns into dropping entire engine/tranny. Not a far stretch!

whatever it takes to be safe
- lower weight = can stop for a squire crossing the road
- spewing coolant is not environmentally friendly
- more down force = safer on slippery roads = i expect an insurance rate reduction
- crisper 2nd to 3rd shift under load = better fuel economy = less carbon footprint

i have ordered a green sticker for the car as a low emissions vehicle for city parking

It's funny how these things evolve. My 3.9 started off as an oil change.

If I lived in California (or at least closer), I can tell you for sure my caliper rebuild would have with 100% ended with a 3.9 - this is the best I could do from Toronto.

Your next rebuild needs to include the cart supporting the motor and tranny. Maybe some nice paint and some Michelin Pilot SS or something. A few decals........
Great project!

I get the funny feeling my coolant pipe weld project this winter will go a similar route... Interested in hearing about the drone part of the M&M muffler? Louder than a sharkwerks bypass pipe I'll bet...

Toronto is awesome, North of Toronto moreso.

Paul, what brand of 200 cel cats did you purchase?
Looking to replace mine as well.

Thanx

I don't know about this.
- basically on the track, with exhaust valves open, the Sharkwerks setup, which I have had for 3 years and love the sound of, is basically an open exhaust - but one that passes through 400 cell Cats
- this setup, will always be muffled (the rear exhaust), but will 'only' have 200 cell vs 400 cell Cats
- my 'guess' is that it might be 'slightly' quieter - I will report back on this
- I do think it will sound a little different as the 200 cell vs 400 cell cats change the type of sound + it will always be muffled versus the somewhat glorious sound at WOT of the Sharky delete
- I already have a buyer awaiting the Sharky so it will go to good use

I should soon have my RS wing and deck lid available for sale (white)
