Apple Macbook Air and Solo DL logging?

I am about to make the switch to all things Apple
Can I do the track side DE data analysis with a an Macbook Air?

ie does Race Studio work in the mac world if I set up a virtual machine?

i'm assuming people have done this - exactly what software has anyone here used to get this to work

thanks

- old white guys leaving is the final nail in the coffin
- pretty much explains HP going to zero, Dell going to zero, and about to be a very slow death spiral of MSFT (their phone is a zero, consumer's have already left and will continue in bigger numbers and now corporations aren't going to upgrade to Win 8)
- if you go to an Apple store and say you are going to use your Ipad or Mac anything for business, immediately they offer you 10 hours of free consulting to get you up and running

You'll need to have a windows installation, I'm going down this same path. So you have two options, a second partition via Apple's Bootcamp with windows, or use one of the VM tools like Parallels $$ or the free VM tool from Oracle. You'll still need to buy the windows OS either way.

I'm not that old, but there is a Windows 8? And what is this bootcamp and parallels you speak of?

I run Parallels on a MacBook Pro with TrakMate and it performs seamlessly.

Run windows 7, 8 is not out yet. Bootcamp is apple's partitioning tool that allows you to run windows as a separate installation in your Mac, think second hard drive with windows installed. Parallels in a virtual machine/ emulator that allows you to run a windows installation directly from your Mac's operating system - best option because you don't need to reboot, whereas with bootcamp you must restart and switch to the windows installation. Check out parallels http://www.parallels.com/ I use it day to day for my craptastic Microsoft tools.

Ballpark cost of this software? I am just beginning to use my SOLO DL and so far really don't like looking at data on my tiny Dell laptop. Big pretty mac screen much better.

From Parallels website: $80 for the software, plus $200 Windows 7 OS.

It's great as I can go back and forth from Race Studio in Windows to iMovie in Mac OS

I'd also look at VMWare Fusion for virtualization software ($50). Regardless of which way you go virtualization wise, if you are planning on running Windows 7 on a Macbook Air, I'd suggest you get one with 8GB of RAM vs the base 4GB.

Run Bootcamp ... Partition of your HD or a dedicated HD.

I don't know what a PC is for more than 10 years....:rockon::rockon::rockon:

By the way, for Solo DL owners with 997.2 GT3, 997.2 GT3 RS and RS 4.0.

Peter Krause (Lolaman here in RL), wrote me that the latest firmware for the SOLO DL and the latest RaceStudio2 software fix a few bugs with the 997.2 GT3 data logging. Peter's support with my AiM SmartyCam and AiM Solo DL has been extraordinary. This is the one system that made me quit using Traqmate after 8 years.
