Never noticed in this video (2:13) before that they tighten, loosen and tighten the CL. Good boys. Following the instructions!

Some help and advice please............have just fitted new Autoart centerlocks to my RS 4.0. Dealer assured me they were correct for the 4.0 hub, and they torque to correct spec. But they are not flush with the centre of the wheel when fitted and torqued down....maybe 8mm proud, and I can see the silicone band that goes around the hub. Any answers? is the 4.0 hub different to the 3.8? Or the GT3?
Sizes were as per factory spec as were offsets at 47 and 48.
Would appreciate comments...

No, same as 3.8RS. Sounds like the wheels don't fit right. Pics?

I had a set of Forgelines...some of the 1st sets they made for center lock...with this issue. The wheels you have are NOT correct and the center lock must fit flush and the rubber o-ring must not be exposed. I'd take them back and get something else....look how your stock wheels fit with the center lock flush....that is the way other wheels must fit.

Head of R&D acknowledges for the first time in public that there's a service interval with wheel hubs used on track, and the magic number appears to be 15,000km. Remains to be seen how they define these 15,000km, whether it's all track miles or some "combined cycle" figure...

Single stud wheels are a problem, will you stop providing them?
"We will continue with that. I know with the GT3 we had to modify the torque rating and we changed to new nuts with 600Nm, and if you run the car on the race track, you will eventually have to change the hubs every 15,000km. But people forget and then you have problems."

"But if you use them properly, it works. We will continue to provide this system."

Is there a maintenance interval for center locks? I don't see anything in the manual. Since you can see the pads and rotors, wheels don't have to come off for state inspection.
Should they come off to check them? Should the torque be checked at certain intervals?
Thanks.

Further to the posting on Pistonheads, an answer from Porsche Cars Great Britain:

http://www.pistonheads.com/news/defa...?storyId=26858

"Current market observation shows that the race track usage profile of many vehicles in the 911 model line now comes close to that of pure GT3 racing vehicles (e.g. GT3 Cup).

The component stresses associated with race track use and competitive driving are much higher than for a sporty driving style on public roads.

The revision intervals for race track use must therefore be observed, particularly for highly stressed chassis components, in the same way as is required for GT3 racing vehicles.

If these revision intervals are not observed, the failure of highly stressed components and breakage of the hubs on the rear axle, for example, cannot be ruled out, particularly in the case of components in advanced stages of wear.

In order to standardise revision intervals, Porsche has decided to replace the wheel hubs on the rear axle of the GT3 with standard wheel hubs.

Customers have received a letter from Porsche GB asking them to contact their preferred Porsche Service Department, so that we can arrange to have the necessary work completed as soon as possible. This work will of course be carried out free of charge"

I am logged in and a longtime member but being denied access to the checklist -- what am I doing wrong? Mounting a 2nd set of winter tires today on a tts and would like to have the checklist printed out versus watch a youtube video over and over again. Thanks!
