Wheel center appears intact (0:44-0:46), so maybe nut itself let go or stub axle failed.....
Blows for the owner/driver however it happened.

That there are so many "file" pictures of failed CLs in the Porsche service guide would suggest this is not a rare problem. In particular, notice one of the pictures had an unusual OEM cast iron RR rotor against yellow PCCB calipers. I don't know this for sure, but I heard this kind of setup is common among fleet cars in PSDS (have seen one myself at Silverstone). If this could happen at PSDS...

Doesn't Sabine operate her ring taxi with a GT3RS? Does anyone know her to ask her if she has had any center lock issues and what her maintenance is for center locks and if she has replaced hubs and CL nuts?

Let me start by saying wow, sorry to see this.... But....I am left wondering about what type of torque wrench was used?
Spring style torque wrenches are no longer valid (out of calibration) if not returned to zero between uses, although op posted that the same tools had been used multiple times, and verified set to 444 post accident.
When was the last time the calibration was verified, and post accident has the calibration of the torque wrench been validated??
If the CL system is torque sensitive, using a routine for validation of the torque tools should be up near the top of the list....

Cruelly hilarious.
While a bit curious to mention air jacks, poster Realist's points are perfectly valid. If you are running slicks the system is exposed to higher load forces which makes it even more important to begin to follow timing-out replacement of certain parts such as hubs (100 hours). It is incumbent upon the owners of these cars and the people responsible for servicing them to be aware of the need for routine preventative maintenance.
With that said, shame on Porsche for not publicizing the need for such maintenance to trackrats, and defining the time-out limits. Their focus is instead on sending out multiple FedEx and Express Mail invitations to view a 918. As long as marketing and extracting maximum profit from buyers rules Porsche corporate culture, we can expect more wheels to come off. It doesn't have to be that way but they care nothing about the car and driver once it is sold as new.

time out parts yes I do that. I actually time out mt whole fkg car every 10-12 months
torque procedure followed yes we should do that
but the fact is street CL has zero advantage over 5 lugs.
if I TQ four out of five lug, I most like will make it back no prob.
if I didn't TQ one CL, bad news
there are more five lug cars yet fewer flying wheel issues.
these life threatening process should be fool proof. it should and need to b obvious not something

not something one needs to read in order to get it right. it's not the technical supremely of the system. I'm sure it's fine. the prob is if it take more than five seconds to get it right, it's poorly designed for consumer use.

She drove an M5, AFAIK. FWIW, as of 2011 she no longer drives the Ring Taxi.
