All GT3's have Type 1 (Rev limiter) Type 2 most also, but the number 8 means 8 ignitions I believe, so that's nothing. I would on;y worry about cars that have NO overrevs, as they are probably wiped ;-)

Here is mine last time i checked.

That's a very clean report, but it is missing some very key information. After the ignitions count, it should also be time stamped. Make sure this is an authentic report, and not "doctored". Who ran this report? A dealer or indy shop?

Thanks for the quick replies

Can you please explain what rev range 1,2,3,4,5,6 actually mean ?

If range 1 is rev limiter, what is the meaining of the other rev ranges ?

Thanks !

Then it should look like Peter's (Trakcar) above. NOT like yours. I'd ask them to re-run it. You also want to see total opert. hours and compare to the mileage ODO.

I think the report that 964 has is a notes section from the Porsche internal shop system that records information about each car.

I have seen reports from the dealer that have the same info at the bottom of the page.

As for overrevs, don't worry about them too much. Syncro's were more of a concern for me when I did my PPI, the engines on a GT3 are very tough!

Jens, please check this link for the correct 7GT3 rev ranges and to understand how Porsche interprets them.

Every 3 revs is one turn of the crank shaft so over reving the car once could show hundreds of over revs in the DME. Just depends how long it was at or above red line.

I seem to be in the minority here, but that report is not ideal. Any rev range violations should raise flags or at the very least reduce the purchase price of the car in the 997 series GT3/RS cars. This is because even a Range 1 over-rev means just that, the engine has been revved beyond its targeted maximum (>8,400rpm).

We know from the Cup cars that these engines can take the extra revs, but it should still result in careful consideration and a discount when purchasing, given the number of over-rev-free cars out there. I've extensively tracked my car with numerous videos on YT showing the car hitting the rev limiter, but I have zero Range 1 over-revs.
