Buttonwillow CW13 Track Times?

^^^^ Duuude that avatar pic update is sweet. Looks way better than that yellow junker ;-).
1:55 on rcomps (NT01) is my goal and based on your times it's doable. I need to sack up. I'm running just below 2 flat, high 1:59. I took me about 10yrs to pull 13s in previous car 2:13 - > 2:00 driving it at 10/10ths.

Oh it’s def doable. Had a friend running 51-52 on my SC3R tires

1:51 in a mostly stock 996 GT3 is insane. I don't really understand it with those low speeds through bus stop and riverside but the clock doesn't lie.
I did a 54.1 in my RS but I drive it pretty timid on track as I have dedicated track cars to go full idiot with. You know, ones I can afford to wad up, HAHA.

Yeah insane cause Nicky Hays (pro) drove buddys 991.2 GT3 on SC3R and ran 1:49.
He basically matched it and he ran 1:51-52 in his 7.1GT3. So very blown away by the 996 time.

This track is deceptively technical and requires a full removal of fear factor to get to that 150 mark... my best is 156 on my .1 with NT01 tires. I would be lucky to break 205 today.
When I've laid my data across pros the main areas are exiting cotton corners all the way to bus stop, from bus stop to the hill. Those areas need to be FAST/FLAT. It's really hard to hit that kink after riverside flat and have the car skip a couple widths LOL. That plus not over braking into sunset, sunrise.
If anyone has AIM I have some old data files I could share with you, the data makes it super obvious.

Last time I was out there in Feb I was running 59's on nankang CRS. Hoping to get back out there and into the 56-57's now that I've adjusted to the car a little bit.

Your car will stick. Mental game to keep it flat :-) Plus that little kink the bump comes and goes with patching and pavement and the weather…

Good for you to get back out there in an analog car. The 996/7s really make you earn it.

I need to get the 997.2 GT3 alignment sorted, its much more street orientated than anything else, with that and building a little more confidence i should be able to get into the 57's with the nankangs. The other issue I think I was encountering with the 997.2 on the first outing at buttonwillow was trying to drive it like the 991RS..... lost a lot of confidence when the car stepped out around riverside and a few other corners while trying to take it at "991RS speeds"

^^^^ sounds about right, no matter the vehicle you don't want to lose it in Riverside. I've spun the 997 in soo many places at BW, trying to figure out this stupid put the engine on the rear axle thing . One of my biggest issues coming from an AWD turbo front engine car was learning how to trail brake in a 911 and loosing it in sunset, sunrise and sweeper. I lost trust in the car. After getting the guards LSD, things dramatically improved while trail braking, the rear is settled and stable now. At my last track event, something finally clicked after several years of frustration (aka being slower than my old car). You know it when you feel it type of situation. Threshold braking, good corner entry speed, with clean down shifting and throttle blipping, and rolling back on the throttle before hitting the apex. I'm building back the mental fortitude to push past my own limits again and trusting the mechanical grip of those 305s. The 996/7 GTs are surgical scalpels and take extreme levels of precision to get everything out of it. That's what is so cool about the 996 video doing a 1:51 it highlights the vehicle's capability. That's the art of driving. That's why some of us own these cars, to figure out how to dance with this beast. It's fun and challenging to be able to spend time figuring out how to get to 8.5-9/10 in this car.
