Centerlock Recall Done
I had the centerlock recall done this morning, watched the tech (a friend of mine) do the entire work
First he checked breakaway torque of the centerloccks, said if it was below 250 nm that was a warning sign. Mine were at 600 nm, since I am **** about checking this before a track day.
Next once wheels were off he inspected the hubs / brake rotors / nubs for wear. Said mine looked fine
Old nut is replaced with a new nut that has no torque spec writen on it.
that was it.
He said that some owners have not checked their torque and has caused a loose nut. If the nut was loose it will wear the rotors, nubs, ect
I took a picture of the nut, it looks exactly the same minus markings.....and the new one is black instead of purple-black

I asked if I could keep the old purple ones, they wouldn't let me.
I turned those old ones purple in six months
The old ones are living proof you can track these center locks and they wont fall off.....and the old nuts at proper torque spec are just fine

hey did you have 2 sets or only one ... I have 2 sets (titanium and black, the latter from suncoast) and I am wondering if I will get both replaced courtesy PCNA?

I do not see why they woudl not replace all of them, their goal is to get the nuts with writing off the street

if I had writing on my nuts, I wouldn't want anyone to see them either!

So exactly what is the difference. If there is a mechanical change I can't see it from the pictures. Is there an actual design change and if so what is the effect of the change/how is the new nut "improved"?

Larry, the will definitely replace them! You will be required to take them in when you get the work done and advise the service dude. I bought mine from the US and they will be replacing them when I go in early next month!

KBS, the only change is that it does not specify the torque on the bolts. You are given a manual supplement. That way, if they need to ever re-adjust the procedure, they won't need to change bolts again... Mechanically the should be identical...

So in effect the "new" nut is the "old" nut sans lettering and is a CYA to preclude potential litigation aganst Porsche in the event someone doe not apply proper torque?

Am I blind or do the markings on the old purple nut appear to be the same as the new black one? Where is the fabled torque spec marking?
