I do agree with the Audi comments. Owned an RS4... was nice, but snooze-fest. I assumed R8 would be more alive, given MR platform. I sat in one and it felt large. And inside looked too futuristic... but build quality was top-notch.
i lived in LA area in the 80's, not been there a while so not sure how much traffic you have. if you can't open up an R8, it's just a honda accord.

so if you can't go fast, get a car that FEEL good at low speed.
911 3.2
964
356

that's what i would do.
but i got two kids now so i need BIG cars.

Sounds like it down to porsches only. 993, GTS, or cayman R. However, if it doesn't have to be a convertible or need back seats. There is always the CLK black series, and I'm not being biased. Hehe
i take CLK over R8 V10.
i am medium sized. and R6 is way too small. the pass seat takes one briefcase....

I read that a new C class (coupe only?) C63 AMG Black series is in the works.
Sounds good to me.

The SL65 Black series is a bit heavy.

Good luck.
Well said!

Speaking of which- Spyder has both the front and rear storage and will pack in a surprising amount of crap. Three grocery bags in Frunk, 4-5 more in the back.

There are 5-6 of us on here that have both GT3's and Spyders and by my best recollection we all love our Spyders. Tremendous value for the money and it drives great and looks incredible.

Imagine being in your Spyder tearing up an empty high-desert road. Wind in your hair and exhaust crackling behind you. Suspension soaking up the bumps but holding the car flat as a pancake in the corners. People flagging you down and begging to lay in the dirt and take a picture. That my friends is the "Spyder Life" lol

It's all true! Well except the laying in the dirt part...haha

This thread has inspired me to seriously consider a Boxter Spyder as a DD. It's sad to park our GT cars for weeks in between track days and I think the Boxter would make the toes tingle just enough on the street and the GT car would give even more satisfaction when we get to the track. Savyboy has it here in the correct color, for sure!

I agree... spyder envy galore! I looked at all dealer inventory and all have sport seats vs. GT2 seats... bummer! I want white w/black wheels, sound package plus and GT2 seats.

Thank you for all the suggestions! Mooty... 356's look fun! but the low-back seats and lap belts sketch me out.

Or why not Mooty's S2K? I'm sure that's a thrill and the price is right.

If you didn't want the bikini top, you're describing the Boxster Black Edition (same horses, same 0-60 time.)

I dare say the Spyder wins on fun, feel and resale value, but the Black Edition is rather more versatile and practical as an all-rounder. Just get a hefty discount up front to defray the loss on resale. I don't know that the next Boxster is coming too soon or arriving as anything but incremental. Not sign of a hard top cabrio in 99x or 98x, sadly. Maybe Porsche will hold to the threat of the Panamera being the hard top cabrio 2+2 GT for Porsche in the future (with a $200K price tag ...) The skyrocketing prices of Porsches could bring excellent resale value on some of the 997's and things like the Spyder.
