I went to it when The RR was in Daytona about 3 years back. Cool event. Even better that it's being held at LS.

Porsche Race Car Classic on October 16th!

The final event of that Rennsport week will be called the 'Porsche Race Car Classic'. It will be held at Quail Lodge on October 16th at the field where Porsche set up its 'Zentrum' for the Panamera world introduction several years ago. It will be a once-in-a-lifetime reunion of famous race cars and drivers from the period. The planning for this event started 3 years ago and you don't want to miss it. It is an expensive ticket (includes admission & unlimited food & drinks like The Quail in August) but $350 of the $400 ticket is a charitable contribution for cancer research and it's tax deductible. Like The Quail, tickets will be limited so plan ahead. Also suggest all make your hotel reservations early. z356 (Carmel)

Great news - I just told my wife we're going... I may even drive the 911 cross-country again!

z356 - please email me some hotel suggestions. We usually stay @ the Hotel Abrego in Monterey for the Historics...

Larry Cable 03-07-2011 03:35 PM

I like the cypress inn carmel

Chris from Cali 03-07-2011 03:43 PM

Got my reservation in at the Abrego as a backup. I'll check other hotels as suggestions come in - thanks for the scoop!

Chris: This is where you belong:http://www.laubergecarmel.com/. In general, hotel accommodations in Carmel are pretty mediocre for the prices you have to pay. But if you are coming with your wife, there is much to recommend staying in Carmel proper rather than in a less expensive place in Monterey. The Cypress Inn is also very nice and 'dog friendly'. It's the one that is partly owned by Doris Day.

Below is a website that might be good as a start:http://www.carmelcalifornia.com/inde...otels_inns.htm

The Abrego in Monterey is new and more than adequate. http://www.hotelabrego.com/ The Hyatt Regency in Monterey is another alternative:http://www.monterey.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp Both are located close to Route 68, which is the road to Laguna Seca or US 1 to go to Carmel and Quail Lodge.

Bernardus Lodge in Carmel Valley is located close to the track (other side of the Laureles Grade) and the Porsche Race Car Classic event at The Quail. It is more upscale than most. http://www.bernardus.com/, but you are not walking distance to a town or village.

Where ever you stay, even Motel 6 at Marina, this is going to be a great week - don't miss it! Saludos, z356

How about a hotel for a group of guys going to RR4? We're not THAT friendly not that there is anything wrong with that.

Larry Cable 03-07-2011 06:52 PM

Hyatt Carmel Highlands is also nice esp if you are bringing an SO... but out of town.

Carmel Mission Ranch has some "group" accomodation also ... there are also your typical Holiday Inn type establishments in the area ... and a bunch of places in Monterey too!

Ok, for those that are pretty tough and not THAT friendly, we have created Salinas for you. Just a skip and a jump, literaly, to Laguna Seca on Rt 68. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g3...ia-Hotels.html
Please do bring something with you that translates well into any language - like a Glock 17 - and you will have no problems, eh! Saludos, z356

How about something near the Ocean that is decent and we can stumble home to if we per chance were to visit an establishment with golden beverages?
