Guys- I'm at the point with this that we should fix our lines - file complaints- and expect some compensation in the future as far as some financial reimbursement. Safety first issue. I'll contact the investigator NHTSA tomorrow. He is not allowed to give me a count of complaints. I wish more PCA regions were pro active. I see some changes in the Tech forms for track events - an alert- which means to me a real problem - but these things take time. Deadline for Porsche for full disclosure to NHTSA approaching.

Good job everyone. Spread the word about the coolant line issue. So many drivers unaware of the danger. File the complaints if you made a repair. You can search by year- 2001-2007
Porsche asked for an extension on disclosure.

At least one fitting failed with large coolant dump.

I have had 2 separate failures. I was contacted this week by NHTSA. I gave a report including photographic evidence of the failures.

Circumstances surrounding failure: Friday the 13th (September)! at TWS, front straight going clock-wise (thankfully not going around T2-1). Dumped Water / water wetter (not coolant) as I had been anticipating this to happen at some point.
Specific Coupling: The lowest one underneath the alternator
Repair Solution: JB Weld.
Update: Water pump probably did not like running dry. Waiting on replacement part.

I've looked everywhere for the answer this question (unsuccessfully) so forgive me if it's already been covered here...

Were 997 GT3 Cup cars affected by this issue? If not, how is the cooling system on those engines different from the street version?

If Porsche modified the cooling pipes on the Cup cars, that would imply to me they were aware of some weakness with the street version.

Fitting came out and dumped all the coolant on track for about 30 yards
barely kept car on track as I was in a slide
No damage on car and luckily no one right behind at the time
I emailed the inspector with details

I know of at least one cup car where it happened. He re-epoxy'd it overnight and no problem thereafter, but it was the same issue.

The shop where I maintain my 996 cup told me that most cup engines go through a refresh before the issue rears it's ugly head and the tubes are then re-epoxied as part of the normal rebuild.

I believe it is 2001- 2007 . I though the Cup cars were different but I recall Trevor Dawe telling me they did weld earlier Cup versions.
