997 factory clubsport FULL cage *Installed*
I grabbed a few snaps of my full cage for any curious rennlisters before it is installed this week by the fine folks @ MB Euro Motors.
Notice the FACTORY clubsport mounts in my early production RS.
The mount are for REAR half cage and FRONT cage!
Also check out the identification #'s on the rear half cage. (the front section of cage contains no identification numbers however)
Factory cage mounts under the carpet. How awesome is that?!
Anybody with an early production RS has a nice "gift" under the carpet if ever considering a FACTORY full or half cage.
After installing this full cage in a RS with no factory mounts once upon a time, i can tell you now that a RS WITH the factory mounts is worth a premium to anybody interested in installing a half cage or full.
There are NO clubsport fire bottle mounts however.....
I originally installed the full cage for FIA sanctioned events in my first RS.
I recently acquired my second RS and drove it with out cage for awhile and i can honestly say i miss the novelty of the full cage!
A RS just seems right to have a full cage since it thought to be a "street able track car" and the cage is a factory piece.
Even if you do not plan to race PCA or FIA events the cage really makes a RS that more interesting as a sunday driver collector car

if the car has the rear mounts (early production) does that mean it has the front mounts too?
(mine has the rear mounts but I have not looked for the front mounts and I cannot run out to the garage and check)

Thanks for the post. Would love to see the step by step install if you get that detailed with photos. I'm about to install this same cage in the rear of my RS in a week or so!

I'm contemplating welded plates in a .2 so I'm trying to anticipate various "wish I'd thought of that" problems. Thanks!

the do not move as they are in place quite solid.
I have the factory plates and studs from my last car which i never used and the plates and studs are seperate pieces so they must sandwich in once in place.
let me take pictures of my plates and studs for a better look at what we are dealing with.

Are you going to run a bead around them or just leave them bolted? Any concerns about driving without a helmet? Looks badass, all sports cars should come prepped for a cage or have structural cage under the plastic.

driving without helmet dosnt bother me. The padding and harness is a must however in this case without helmet.
RUF have intergrated cages in their GT3's
