Same lap time as the 2008 GT2 by the same magazine, and faster than the ZR1, R8 V10, GTR, Scuderia, Gallardo. At 125mph, the rear produces 108 lbs of downforce.

Thanks for posting. According to the article, the new RS is a full 15 seconds faster than the 997.1 RS around the Ring. Wow!

733 is better than the CGT, right?

haha okay I give up. (Gt-r claimed 734?) either way I'm happy I've got a new RS and it's really fast. YAY.

Well, the truth starts to arise with the 2010 GT3 RS.

The 245/325 N1-Spec MPSC tires are much better in dry pavement, but they are horrible in wet pavement, compared to the MPSC in the 2010 GT3. The RS got penalized in the combined dry/wet slalom, and that's why it scored so low.

Porsche seems to be learning from Chrysler, because the Viper guys got the ACR equipped with Race-spec MPSC.

The CGT lapped in 7:28 with PS2, on MPSC the CGT would drop easily another 7 secs. The CGT is in a radically superior league.

I suspected that the RS aero improvements were not that good for the car to drop 7 secs at the Ring compared to the 2010 GT3. Sticky tires did the trick, combined with the other upgrades.

Most likely, Porsche is using the same tires for the GT2 RS with a claimed 7:18 secs lap (15 secs faster than the 2010 GT3 RS). Now this makes sense, because the gap between the 997.1 GT3 RS and 997.1 GT2 on the same tires was 12 secs (factory times), so they are getting the other 3 secs in the GT2 RS with the weight reduction, improved aero, shorter gearing and a larger power gap.

1.9 g at Schwalbenschwanz which is cambered (if this is the right word for the outside being much higher than the inside).

1.5g in neutral conditions (2010 regular GT3 came in with 1.4g).

the test driver (he was 1 of the 4 drivers in the 24 hr GT3 RS team) gives most of the credit of this (and the 7 sec better lap time on the 'ring) to the wider (and better) MPSC tires, the better balance -both in terms of aerodynamic and set-up stability (from being wider at front and rear).

997 GT2 originally had a ring time of 7:31 and then in a later test did a 7:29. All stock.
