I think Lexus will have trouble finding 500 buyers. The engine is special (9000 rpm redline, fuel cut-off at 9200 rpm), but the rest of the car is nothing special. It weighs almost 3600 lbs!

If dealers and/or buyers are flipping cars for profit, it only means the market value is higher than MSRP. If manufacturers want to prevent flipping, they can either raise the MSRP above market value, or try some ridiculous leasing scheme. Looks like Lexus is attempting to do both. This car has been in development for almost a decade...apparently their pricing plan is a few years behind as well.

Fantastic motor, but like the MB SLS, I can't understand how they could make a clean sheet design so...unattractive.

funny seeing their ads this weekend. I wonder how many people are going to go to the dealer looking for the car..... then to find out the real deal.

a 9000 rpm engine from honda (s2000) is reliable.
a high reving motor from toyota is not good news.

Here is what Lexus is doing: you put down $10000 now and $50000 when the car is built..On delivery you sign a 2yr lease and make a single paymeny upfront...NO monthly payments..so you must come up with 80% of the price of the car prior to delivery and after 2yrs you have the option to purchase it at 20% residual.....
How do I know this: I had my name on the list untill I saw what it looked like in person....UGLY no other words to describe it....
BTW: TM is claiming that they will be losing money on every single one of them...hard to believe..
Stick with the Porsche guys even if greedy people try to flip them.
who would be dumb enough to sign such contract. 20 % residual. basically means the original owner would end up buying it. no other car on earth would lose 80% of value in 2 years. the 2ndary mkt knowing this, would force the price down. so the orig owner end up having to keep it indefinitely or lose their shirt.... for what... a toyota?

not even sure i want it at its 20% value but might be the best sounding car in that price range.

The LFA advertising is bewildering for a $375K "Supercar". What is thier point, that they can produce a machine for $375K that breaks a wine glass?

Yeah, that really makes me want an LFA, NOT!

I would get a used Carrera GT in a heartbeat over the LFA.

well it's kind of funny that they're still attached to the wine/champagne analogy that they've been using in their ads since the 90's...remember when they had 200 of them stacked on the hood of the old ES300 or whatever?

about the fact that the lexus is over 300k. HIGH. HALLUCINATING. why anyone would pay 300k for a soul-less supra that's not really any faster than a gt-r is beyond me.
