What a car that will be!!! Wish I had that kind of cash to be that kind of VIP, or buy the car for that matter.

Wonder if it will come to the US.

Audi just announced the R8 GT, which will be outgunned by this car already. Any idea on the price point? I hope the base is under $200K but I doubt it.

With 300 units to be made, I don't think it will make it to U.S.

PCNA was sitting on the much cheaper 2008 and 2009 GT2, no market for them, horrible sales.

If the 997 GT2 RS is really almost 200 lighter than the 2008 GT2, I can only see that happening with standard 1-piece Carbon seats, standard Li-Ion battery, CL wheels, the lighter 2010 PCCB, a Lexan rear window, AC Delete, Radio Delete, and there are still 45 lbs left to reach the 90Kg weight savings. This suggests the use of carbon or aluminum body panels (rear fenders, front fenders, deck lid, bumpers).

With all the light parts above, it should start at $225k and move up from there.

$200k is cheap, in Canada the Turbo S Coupe and Cab are $200k and $213.2k respectively.

620hp and massive torque through the rear wheels combined with a bit of turbo lag, and TC off of course, will be a thrill ride when the punch hits mid-corner!

ps: just noticed this is my 43rd Rennlist post...my former Porsche 944-spec race car number

918 beating performance at 50% or less $ and without any risk of hybrid componentry failure.

So the 620-630 rumors were correct. Amazing.

(note in calendar, January 2012: Buy GT2RS for 40% off msrp.)

Half the price, yes, but there's no way Porsche will have the 918 (let's say it's a 2012 model year) at all "short" of the 2011 GT2RS. If the factory is willing to make the 2011 GT2 comparable to the 2005 Carrera GT (and bear with me, I'm not saying it's apples for apples, just some numbers on paper) then you can be sure that if the GT2RS is 3.2, the 918 with 3.0 or 2.9 (isn't the 2010 Turbo PDK something like 3.0? ... anyway, my point being, it's just numbers.) The buyer of the 918 will not be flustered by the GT2 (that they'll probably have right alongside their Carrera GT with the space recently vacated by some other Ferrari exotic to make way for the 918.) I think Porsche is making it clear that the 918 will be designed, spec'd and priced to eat Ferrari's lunch. And I think we're seeing the grand finale of the GT1 engine and the single clutch transmission.
