Lol...
Pete: You don't need 30 years of practicing law to read the clear language on the Nevada State Farm policy. If your car is on a racetrack, nothing is covered. Sorry, it wasn't that way until a few years ago.

PM me with your State Farm agent's name - maybe we have the same one!

Will do. PS- let me clarify I was not meaning that I was frustrated with you Doug, only that different pieces of info come out on the same subject. The issue seems to bring out varying points of view. You are a smart cookie and I respect your comments

so you come to NHMS to see nascar race, park your car in the field in the garage (technically within racetrack) then go to watch the race, come back, find your car wrecked by some drunk folks and car is not covered as car 'was on a racetrack'? i doubt it.

DE events are not racing and it does not (or should not) matter if DE is taking place on an oval track or Kohl`s empty parking lot.

It is so interesting to hear what people have to say from different insurances and agents. Some say you are covered, some say you aren't.

Maybe I should call my agent

Westfield Insurance definitely covers for this. I checked and they cover DE's.

Here is the verbiage directly from my latest policy:

Physical Damage Coverages- Exclusions
"19.b- [while] on a track designed primarily for racing or high speed driving. This exclusion (19.b.) does not apply if the vehicle is being used in connection with an activity other than racing, high speed driving, or any type of competitive driving"

So to me, and I have no formal legal education, the "high speed driving" definition is key to coverage. What is high speed in a school zone on an icy road is not high speed on a large open paved area in sunny warm dry conditions.

And if it is not timed/competitive also key. DE is not timed and is not competitive.

At least that is how I view all of this.

Ambiguity big enough to drive GT3 through? Or not? Any legal eagles or insurance folks want to chime in?

...but do they cover non-NNJR DE's? I don't think so.

Tom: They don't promote it as a NNJR plan but as a plan that covers HPDE. Probably worth a call to check.

My State Farm agent confirmed today that they DO NOT cover any kind of track day event. No ambiguity. No coverage.
