I was set to purchase HPDE insurance until i called my agent. I begin to explain what I was going to do and that the events were PCA sponsored when he stopped me, said he was very familiar with the PCA DE's, and that absolutlely, 100% , I was covered. He said that as long as it wasn't a timed race and I wasn't being paid to race that i was OK. Made my day.

Someone mentioned a while back another company that covered DE that wrote coverage in many states, will someone kindly refresh my memory? High Point is only NJ. With that said, my local State Farm agent said they DO cover non-timed events. I know my friend LawJDC mentioned above he believes they do not. Frustrating to have these conflicting pieces of info.
Lol...

PM me with your State Farm agent's name - maybe we have the same one!

Pete: You don't need 30 years of practicing law to read the clear language on the Nevada State Farm policy. If your car is on a racetrack, nothing is covered. Sorry, it wasn't that way until a few years ago.

DE events are not racing and it does not (or should not) matter if DE is taking place on an oval track or Kohl`s empty parking lot.

Here is the verbiage directly from my latest policy:
Physical Damage Coverages- Exclusions
"19.b- [while] on a track designed primarily for racing or high speed driving. This exclusion (19.b.) does not apply if the vehicle is being used in connection with an activity other than racing, high speed driving, or any type of competitive driving"
So to me, and I have no formal legal education, the "high speed driving" definition is key to coverage. What is high speed in a school zone on an icy road is not high speed on a large open paved area in sunny warm dry conditions.
And if it is not timed/competitive also key. DE is not timed and is not competitive.
At least that is how I view all of this.
Ambiguity big enough to drive GT3 through? Or not? Any legal eagles or insurance folks want to chime in?

High Point Auto Insurance specifically covers DE's. They have made presentations at our NNJR-PCA meetings and this is their claim to fame - they cover DE's.
