GT3 and GT3 RS ride height
#31
Too low with 19"s for the street.
Also, I got some fault codes from the shocks. We cleared it out once and it hasn't happened again. With this setup I cannot even get the low profile jack under the car without using my ramps to bring the car up a few "s. this is issue is mainly using the 18" instead.
I hope this helps....

Senna, your NT01/RA1 combo 18's with the tires you are using are right at at the same overall diameter as your 19".
Dog....just for reference...245/40/18 is the same overall diameter as 235/35/19 and 305/35/19 is .2" less overall diameter than 305/30/19. I cross ref'd this with Toyo, Michelin, Pirelli.
Remember when you change tire sizes all around your cars ride height measured from the parts in Trakcars photo of the Porsche Workshop manual changes.
To see what I am talking about go to tire rack.com and look at the overall diameter of the various tires you are running compared to what came stock on your car. If you deviate from that stock overall diameter specs your right height changes so be aware of the front to rear overall diameter difference in track tires.

Owners manual is supposed to have your ride height specs and alignment specs for street and track.
Clark what size tires are you running and what was ride height specs in millimeters at the measuring points?

Yes your car is high and as mike said Porsche spec is based on stock tire size. If you are running a shorter tire you can run lower ride height than spec but IF you over lower a car you can have serious handling and bump street issues. Your car with its new massive rear wing would also run a different rake than a normal non aero car. All this means get off your wallet and get a competent shop to set your ride height and corner balance. You will be glad you spent the $$. Thus is not a job for a shade tree mechanic.

I don't plan on taking the podium at the 12 hours this year, so close is good enough. It's just a bear to get it up to Vortex in Tampa with my wife traveling so much.

There are operating ranges for all shocks, and with super low stock front rates, excessive front lowering is asking for bad handling traits. You can accomplish the same things by playing with bars and raising the rear end instead.
For 997.1, there is no need to ever go lower than 100 front. Since setting my car up at 100-102 front & 120-122 rear, the car is really, really good. I'm on 245-40-18 & 305-35-18.
I wouldn't take big swings, just change the rake by 5mm and you'll feel a difference. Making a 10mm change in either direction will probably be too far, depending on what you are trying to accomplish.
Rad's old setup threads are spot on for the .1/RS.

I need to take some initial measurements. I've had a number of people (including the dealer) comment on how tall my car is. Maybe I got a weird ride height setup from the factory.
