It is going to have RS prices too I gather.

roberga 11-04-2009 09:34 PM

$170K in europe before VAT.

FTS 11-04-2009 09:36 PM

Interesting that the RS is cheaper, lol, would have been hard to imagine for me.

roberga 11-04-2009 10:28 PM

it might be more expensive but at least it is heavier. 225 front tires and 285 rears. seem skinny to me.

I think that's a misprint. The front tires are 255 if you look at the pictures - backs may still be 285 though. BMW doesn't typically have as big of a difference front to rear as a 911 for obvious reasons.

wow..... sexyyyy... hummm is that going to come to the States?

M3 CSL was my ideal DD... maybe this will take over? haahha

I like it but that wing on the trunk looks like an afterthought.

$170K = pfffftttt!!! I can't see it and I love BMWs!!

C.J. Ichiban 11-05-2009 12:32 AM

170k? haha!

I think we need to compare its European price to its competition at Europe.. And see how much those competitors are selling for in US..

Direct price translation never work for the US market.. IF it makes it to US, it will be a lot cheaper.. we almost always get the best price (but often w/ some water down features) here in US..

GrantG 11-05-2009 01:49 AM

Remember that a GT3 (non-RS) costs 117,000 Euros in Germany (with no options) and this BMW costs 115,000 Euros FULLY EQUIPPED. So, if the car were to be imported to the US, it would cost ~$110k fully equipped. A well equipped GT3RS would cost WAY more than this BMW.

Many magazines and websites make stupid price predictions based on a straight currency conversion. In the USA, we get MUCH better pricing than any European market.

Rocci 11-06-2009 09:37 PM

^ You are probably right about the US price. But still too expensive IMO. My first sports car was an M3, and I really enjoyed that car. For the money it was a great car.

tlarocque 11-06-2009 11:19 PM

Nice looking car but still way too porky to compete with the Porsche offerings. If I had the money (and I don't), I'd buy a used GT3 (RS) over that in a heatbeat. Even if it were offerered for $110k USD, we're still talking a HUGE premium over the current M3 (which is a dog on the track). I've had a couple M3's and liked them both, but for a truly track-oriented car, the Porsche is a better package.
