Amber Headlight covers.......
what are rennlisters thoughts on these?
|
Just do a wrap. It will cost less than 50$ and can be removed in 2 sec. You can buy the cheap thin ones on ebay for 20$ or go with thicker through lamin-x or others.
|
cuts down available light to see....hated them on the RSR during a night race at Sebring......couldn't see nada...
Are used primarily in ALMS to distinguish GT cars at night |
This is how i did mine with clear film in the center for better light. Whole light is protected even have film on the silver washer buttons on light.

Yellow headlights use to be a law in France until 1992.
|
I kinda like the look, if you do not, might as well have the clear film..

Here's a pic of my 996 with the Lamin-X film. I actually got sick of it after awhile and replaced it with clear film. As leif997 mentioned, it cuts down light at night and is actually pretty hard to see.
|
Thx guys for all the info!
I kinda like the look of it on a road/track car.... however, i have a hard enough time driving at night so i should probably avoid it. |

Sorry no pics of lights on at night. But do to the clear film in the middle the HIDs are super bright.
I mainly did the yellow film with oval clear film in the middle to give the appearance of the 993/997 head light-cleans up the broken egg headlight look of the 996. |

Check this out. See you at Laguna in July. Good times for sure!
|
when are you going to laguna?
which event? |
Sunday July 19th SV and Monday the 20th CFRA.
Will we see you there Mooty? |
The yellow/clear combo is unusual and looks great. On a side note, I had some approach ramps made for my electronic scale set up and will be working at the shop Saturday around noon until the case of BL is gone. My objective is to establish a baseline were I am at now and decide if I am going with your alignment or mine. I am going to stick with the MPSC tires until I am absolutely sure I am getting MAX GRIP out of them. Are you game to come up and hang at the shop?
I have the Race Logic two camera V Box to set up in the car. I could really use some help with the CAN interface and set up. I may post up asking if anyone is using one. |
Sure Jim.
I will do a ride in the morning then head up the coast to your shop. E-mail me the info. Joe |
Very cool. :cheers:I just emailed you.
|
Can't you just heat and peel the indicator's amber mask off?

Love them...and besides, its removable anyway. Just nice to change the look of the car once in a while...keeps the interest alive!
|
In racing they use the yellow headlights so that other cars will know what group classification of car is behind them. Other than that the yellow cuts down on available light.

I like them, drove at night with them and they were just fine, can barely tell the difference. Needed something to set me apart from the 30 Cum White GT3's in DE Cup
|
Baller.
Nice wheels ;-) |
I'm a huge fan of the yellow lights, they give you protection against the elements and set you apart from everyone else.

Guys the reason for yellows light is to cut the glare on fog prone areas, if you live on the mountains with temp and altitude drops these are perfect, you will be glad you have them, it gives you more depth of field,
it is just a matter of getting accustomed to it, that said,I don't like the looks of it,cheers, Sonny1. |
