Brake Fluid for 997 GT3
At a recent track day, I noticed a long pedal after my second session which involved some heavy braking (I have PCCB's), and a friend at the track suggested replacing the OEM fluid with ATE Blue Racing fluid, as I was evidently boiling the fluid causing the long pedal. There was an independent Porsche mechanic at the track, and he flushed out the OEM fluid and completely replaced it with the ATE Blue. The rest of my sessions were fine, and I have noticed no soft pedal or fade since then.
Evidently Porsche does not officially recommend a higher temp brake fluid, according to the manual and my dealer, so I am just wondering what most folks are doing in this regard. Is there to anyone's knowlege a fluid that Porsche does recommend for higher temp operation? What are most folks using who are tracking their GT3's? And does use of a "non recommended" fluid in any way void warranties?

I don't track a GT3 but I use Motul 600 for all track events. I prefer the Motul to the ATE fluid for its higher wet BP. Some one else will have to comment on specific brake fluids for the GT3 but certainly the Motul 600 or Castrol SRF would be satisfactory.

i think the reason porsche doesn't recommend hi temp fluid is that USUALLY high temp fluid are more hygroscope than standard fluild; that is they absorb moisture quicker. since most ppl dont maintained cars religiously and forget to change brake fluid...

+1 for SRF. Once I went to Pagid race pads (RS19 front/RS14 rear) on my 996 GT3, I began to boil the fluid and crack rotors. Problem solved with SRF (higher boiling point) and Cup Car ducting (rotors need air to cool). After 12+ track days, my front rotors look almost new. And I drive the car very hard!
Hoping to check out PFCs once my rotors finally crack and Pagids are gone...

And if you do a search on the cup ducts, you will find lots of info. Heads-up though - they don't look like much, but don't be fooled... They really do work! I bought mine from TRG (from Austin when he was working there). As a PMNA part, you can get them from many of the board sponsors...

Definitely SRF! I cooked blue at CMP. I'll never use anything else.

I hv got the steel brakes. What I did before hitting the track were:
1.Changed the brake hose to braided ss line
2.Changed brake fluid, used ATE Blue...more than good enough IMO
3.Race pads, my fav being Performance Friction PFC-01
Worked well, zero fade..consistent pedal feel.
