Question BBS E88 Racing Wheels on 997 GT3

Has anyone mounted BBS E88 Racing Wheels on their 997 GT3.

If so, where did you purchase the wheels and were there any issues such as TPMS?

Thanks,

Mike

I'm running the 18" BBS race wheel on what was once a 997 GT3 street car...

you WILL have issues going from this wheel back to the OEM wheel (BBS thickness/stud/OEM lug bolt thing)...unless you are leaving the BBS wheel on all the time.

GRussell had a "thinner" center section wheel like mine that worked with the OEM lug bolts but I'm not sure what model it was...drop him a PM

...call Kerrigan at Synergy Racing for offset/order info.

I used them last season - no issues with OEM lug bolts or switching back and forth with stock wheels.

Now those are some real wheels. I would use those for the street too. I really like the BBS Motorsport wheels. I also just prefer 18 inch wheels. I basically find 17's too small (unless you have a tiny car like the Elise), 19's are a little too big, but tolerable on the 997 but certainly work on big cars like a Ford GT pt Viper, and 18's are juuuuuuuuuust right; IMHO. Plus they allow for so many tire options. As for 20's, they have no place on a real sports car, and the 15" and 16" combo on an Elise for the track is perfect.

I will switch to an 18 as soon as I wear down the Corsa's on my stock 19's.

I was also thinking about going with the same 8.5" front with a 235 but with an 11" rear and a 295 tire, maybe the PS2's. Is there any reason this is not a good idea?

Default BBS E88s

Dave at Wheel Enhancement told me yesterday that the wheels can be built with no issues/modifications.

Dave is correct, just remember that it depends on which centers are used. If you use the "Cup Car center" as I did, OEM bolts will not work because of the thickness. BBS has a thinner center they can use for a street car application and that is what you want if you will be switching back and forth between the BBS wheels and the OEM GT3 wheels using OEM lug bolts.
