FWIW : Last Friday, there were two GT3's on the lot at Momentum in Houston...one Guards the other Black...only took a gander at the Guard, with 1700 miles and low options (guessing sticker at $110k) they were asking ~$125k

I have been shopping for the last few months in the san francisco bay area and the local dealerships are asking about $10-$20k over msrp for both used and new gt3s. I was looking at a new one that sold yesterday for $10k over msrp.

Still, dealers asking for and getting over msrp on used ones too...

...also, the dealers (at least in CA) are asking around $20k over msrp for the 08s. There will only be around 100 of them.

I sold mt GT3 many months ago...the car had a 122k sticker(white car with PCCB plus a few other options). The car was just traded into an LA dealer with 1100 miles...they give him $110k for the car.

The car has already been sold again so you do need to be moving fast to get a great deal.

I sold my white one for just about sticker. I think if anything the market is realizing that supply is tighter than ever

This was the car that nobody wanted, because of the sunroof!

Well, if you can't get a GT3 at a reasonable price, check out the new MB Black Series, it does many things as well and some better than a GT3 (some worse too), like being a "hassle" free daily driver. Now if you don't need a daily driver, my comments don't apply!

It might be an alternative for some (like me). I refuse to pay premiums to greedy Dealers.

Seems this way to me too. The reduction in US allocation moving from MY07 to MY08 for 3s + RSs is becoming apparent.

Fwiw as a rough barometer-- the search
http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=...el%3D997&meta=
the # listed has dwindled from 45 to 23 cars in just the last month (granted- this excludes used low mileage units & not all dealers are posting GT3/RS on their site's available inventory). Imo prices will hold at 90% of current for a while until rumors of dfi/pdk materialize into production-ready hardware for the next 3/RS.

Most of the at or just above sticker ones seem to be low/no option cars too. High content cars will continue to draw a premium.

What? You mean the other way around right? I belive in the theory that the low optioned cars will be easier to sell, and could command a premium.

I ordered mine with $1,400 worth of options for a reason (I almost did $0). It keeps the price down for me, and should make it easier to sell. With destination, mine comes in at $109,995.00 on the nose. Then I pay my 3% in taxes, plus about $80 in registratraion, plus a minor doc fee from the dealer. If I don't like the car for some reason (I find this hard to believe), then I would consider selling it for $113K to get my price paid and taxes back. Normally I would never expect to get my taxes back, but in this case I justify it because I would sell the car quickly and it would only have a couple hundred miles on it.

Also, it is not my fault that I cannot find a GT3 to test drive; it is Porsche's fault. So if there is still a lot of demand in Dec/Jan, then I see no reason why I can't get $113K for my very lightly optioned GT3.

I think you also need to keep in mind that all of the 911 allocations are being cut, and supposedly the GT3 and RS will not be built anymore after December. I think the GT3 demand will continue throughout '08 just because of the low allocations for all Porsches for North America. You will find regular Carrera S buyers and Turbo buyers looking towards GT3's just because they want a 997. My delear's allocation for '08 is a joke. They have all of their '08 997 models sold, and even have a small waiting list for the regular 997's. Currently they have one cab and a couple of Caymans and Boxster that are new ('07's). The other 6 cars are used, one of which is an '03 turbo tip. As for the Cayenne? I don't follow those, they are not real Porsches anyway.

I think it is going to get ugly in '08, and those of us who have the most desierable 997's, and get to order them at MSRP, are very lucky! I put my name and deposit down on an S just in case. I don't have my GT3 yet, and in the back of my mind I don't fully trust that I will get it; even though I have an order with my name on it and a build date.

'08 should be very interesting; I expect all 997's to be at, or very close to MSRP because of limited supply. And the very special ones: GT2, low mile used GT3's, and even new turbos to go over MSRP depending on the dealer.

I've also heard from 2 separate dealerships that 08 allocations for all porsches are going to be really low- even boxsters and regular 911s. Maybe the 09's will be launched early.

As for the possibility of a 09 GT3, I agree the odds are very low. The regular 09 911s are getting DFI and more hp so if they were to offer a GT3, it seems that they would have to offer the same improvements.

Can they even get more hp out of the current 3.6 GT3 engine. I would imagine that it's probably pretty maxed out and a 3.8 version for the next generation would be a better use of time and resources.

I was at the dealership yesterday in San Jose. Steven Creek Porsche had a white GT3 RS listed for $132k and the markup was $90k. I couldn't believe it. Is the markup this high acroos the US? I can imagine what the markup will be for the GT2.

I don't know if they can go too high on the GT2; I believe it is already around $180K, isn't it? How high can you go on a 911? I doubt they can go much over the used (very low mileage) Ferrari 430 prices. I am a Porsche guy and always will be, but it seems that the GT2 needs to stay under $200K.

I'm just happy that I am getting a brand spankin' new '08 GT3 for under 110K, even if it is only $5.00 under!

Don't count your GT3s before they're delivered!

I don't think there is any question that the facelifted 2009 997 line will be available by spring (non-GT cars).
