Anyone with 993 Turbo experience now in a 997GT3
As the title suggests, would be great to read a previous or current 993 turbo owner's perspective of their new GT3. Thanks!

Apart from the sunroof, what's common between the two? Wait a minute... I *have* seen 993TT without a sunroof.
I really want to hear about other's answer on your question though.

I cant give you the 997 GT3 experience but I went from a 993 TT to a GT3 and then you can read the 996 GT3 to the 997 GT3 and extrapolate(until some one explains with direct experience)
THe 993 TT is a classic Porsche and was an icon to me-still love the looks. I was taking mine to the track and you have to spend alot (to me to make it from the autobahn burner to a track machine) so I finally sprung for the GT3. It was ready right out of the box (sorta bar-gt3 seats etc) There are still alot of 993s TTs out there that will kick a GT3s butt (997 or 996) but that is driver expertise. The GT3 is a scapel where a TT is a sledge hammer. The 997 sounds to be even more sharp and precise. I never had much of a problem at the track with the TT (other than being slow) but I have spun the GT3 several times (will the 977 PASM/TC bail you out?) So the TT will cover a little bit where is the GT3 doesnt suffer fools as much. I wish I had those both AND the 997, but alas I have to send kids to college and buy make-up for the wife (this is where brunettes would be more economical than blondes-cant see the blondes eye lashes or brows with out makeup-please dont show this to my wife) What I like about the 997 is its more 993 like than the 996 but the 996 is growing on me look wise as it ages. I dont think you will regret the move but either way you cant go wrong. The 996 is good as a daily driver ( I dont but do drive it to work occasionally) and the 997 is supposed to be more so. By the way justifying not having to mod the GT3 wont work- you end up doing seats, bars, belts, LWF, shorter gears, yada yada yada. Thats how I justified it to my wife-its amazing I am still married.

To me the 993 TT or TT "S" is a great car for the collection for all the obvious reasons.

i had another a year back i bought for open road racing. that showed me rather starkly how P's have progressed. "always buy the newest P you can.." is a truism for a reason: they get better [sometimes, the new TT sucks as a "sports car"].
The 997 GT3 is a great sports car, and i do not say that lightly. Only the strad and the 996 GT2 currently reside in that subset with the 997 GT3 for me. [i did not say "track car"]
If you offered me the choice, I would have not need more than a millisec to think. I would go 997 GT3: handling, brakes, power all improved. balanced, gracefully. get one.

Bought my 1996 993tt used with 2950 miles on it in 96. Used it for DE and street in stock shape. It was wicked fast in the straight line, but not the ultimate track car in the turns(showed that it was awd if given a moment). At 140 mph it did lot feel stable if you were not accelerating...a bit twitchy.
Had it for 10 years and 36k miles...great car...not a racer...sold it in 7/06 to by my 997GT-3.
Now this car IS a track car..you know where you are on the track at all times. If you are at speed it is as stable as if you are going 30mph, miss an apex it's your fault not the cars. As fast in a straight line as the tt ..no but what it lacks in torque it more than makes up for in its ability to cut through that turn..change direction and KEEP COMUNICATING it at all times. This car is a whole new level over the TT.
Now when is my next track day?
