My advice is to contact a proven setup shop in your area. Experimenting with wheel/rubber combinations has been done several times over. The change from 19's to 18's involves more than brake clearence.

Thank you all for the input. Things start looking a little bit less confusing.

J....it's the NT01 that has the 315 that will fit. It is a 315/30/18. I just ordered them last week. I'll post up pics when I get them installed. The RA1 does not have the 30 series rubber it has a 305/35 which has to much RD (rolling diameter) to fit and be correct in the rear.

Forgot to add, my refernce is to the 996GT3.

The RA1 has the same rolling diameter as stock (997GT3).

LVDell, as for the 996, I think multiple people have been successful with the 18" RA1s. Check out posts from NJ-GT and Seth Thomas.

My choice was to use stock 997 18" carrera III's (new factory take-off from eBay $1200). Weights and observations posted here.

https://rennlist.com/forums/997-turbo-forum/311291-stock-wheels-tires-weighed.html

Just FYI, the 997GT3 rear wheels are even another 2 pounds heavier per corner than the 997TT wheels.

Thanks Jeff, I have actually talked to others who tried them and found rubbing at serious compresion. The RD is larger than the 30 series enough to cause problems under heavy load/compression in the rear. There are a couple of 'listers that used them and verified this.

Have fun, Rick
What do you recommend? Just add more camber?
