RS prices over sticker?
What do you think is a fair price to pay over sticker for an RS. I am hearing offers of 25 - 30k over? Is anyone paying these prices to get an RS or is it more like 10 - 15k? I have been looking for one and have found a few but I wonder what the real number is. Any thoughts?

i personally know of ppl who paid 20k over msrp for a GT3 (not RS) on the ground for which he didn't pre order. i think he overpaid. but use that as a gauge. i can see someone paying 30k over for RS (not that i agree with it). but i feel 30k is the limit. if you want to pay more than 30k i am sure you can find one.
if i HAD to pay over. 10-15k is what i consider still "sane".
just get a dealer plate and drive the cup car on street. though when you get stuck on 101 or 405.... well, bring your cool suit.
cheers.

i know of a car that went for 20k over
my biggest objection to that, if you really think it's worth it, is that it will not be even worht MSRP in less than a year ( will depreciate) unlike ferraris

I have a GT3 coming in at MSRP. I'd pay the extra 17k to get the RS at MSRP. With a 20k market adjustment, that would put the RS at 37k over a GT3. No way would I pay that, but would consider 10k over. 37k will cover a helluva lot of track time and some professional instruction, both of which will do me a lot more good than orange paint and a phat azz.

I'd go for the phat azz as well, however I figured the premium at MSRP would get me a lot of track instruction. Needless to say that I didn't get an allocation so that was all mental gymnastics anyway. Turns out that the sticker on my GT3 is pretty close to what a bare bones RS would have been.

My opinion? There will be enough GT3s and GT3RSs to go around, so anything over MSRP for these cars is wasted money. As has been stated many times, Porsche has always fulfilled demand, even for rare high-performance models...it just takes some patience for supply to catch up.
If you must have one of the first ones on the ground, well, it'll be a seller's market for a while...they will determine the "fair price".

Hmmm....
Much to think about. I have a 997 GT3 in white. I am having the following mods done.
LWFW and clutch
Front RS lip
RS steering wheel
CF seats
Euro rear bumper (no bumperettes)
RS deck lid and wing
Flat black Champion RS98's
Paint mirrors flat black
LW battery
I am thinking, how far am I away from an RS? It would cost me 50k just to have no sunroof and a wider *** with some different suspension bits. I am not sure it would be worth it, but it is tempting me!

I found out today the PIWIS does have the RS programming available already.
Don't forget to have someone deactivate the thorax bag when you swap seats.
Who's supplying the GT3 seats? Price and availability?
Mirrors on the RS aren't flat (assuming you mean matte) black.
In terms of how far to an RS, check the Excellence review comparison.
You'll need RS wheel carriers too and associated control arms, probably from an RSR since the RS seems to borrow a few nice bits off the race car.
And replace or reprogram PASM with whatever springs the RS uses etc.
What's the offsets on the Champions?
Do you have PCCBs on the car?
Are you running the wheels with the factory spacers or getting the offset in the wheel?
If you want to get the weight down, you'll have to consider the plastic rear glass.
If you want to track something that potent, you'd have to look into either an RS factory roll bar or one of the after-market products coming.
There's body shops around the country doing sunroof delete on stock 997's to prep them for racing. I was quoted about $1K for the RS liner and $400 for the metal roof shell plus labour and paint. Then you could fit the RS roll bar or find the dollars for a Ruf integrated cage, then you've got something!
All that done and you'd have a car lighter than the RS and handling as well as it -- and maybe not spent a lot more, plus you'll have the nice wheels etc.

The ET51 wheels on the RS fit the narrow body, as long as you remove the 5mm spacers and roll the fenders, there you have your increased rear track, with a narrower (read faster) car.

Does the euro bumper fit a US plate?
