The GT3 is here!
Got the call today, and got the car. For those of you waiting on this car (sunroof and all) you will not be disappointed. My initial impression is that it is like a 996 GT3 on steroids.

Pictures tomorrow, and yes it was one of the first ones, they take a little longer to filter up to Northern California.
I was up at Infineon today when I got the call, so I skipped the afternoon runs to get back down to San Jose...but the Christmas Shopping traffic was unreal, and it took longer than I expected. My time with the car was brief, but enough to say Oh Wow!!!!!, and I'm a pretty jaundiced Porsche owner. My expectation was that the evolution from the 996 chassis to the 997 chassis was going to yield something special appears to have been borne out; but then I had some insights going from the 996 X51 to the 997 X51. I sold the Audi RS4 and kept the 997 X51
I went with white, but for those of you local there is also a very pretty red (read stunning) one at Steven's Creek, it will be there until Sunday morning before it is picked up.
I will probably swing by SR tomorrow morning for a little while.
Tomorrow is going to be a fun day!

colm, s. creek had a red 997 with aero kit for a long time. the car you referring to is a REAL red GT3?
now i am very confused by you after our talk at infineon yesterday. i was about to pick up an exige s.
it's likely that track master will have LS date 1/6-7. so you got a month to break it in and i EXPECT to see you at LS with the new toy.

It's a real red GT3 at Steven's Creek (til noon tomorrow).
The 997 GT3 is closer to my 996 GT2 than it is to the 996 GT3. In fact it reminds me a great deal of the GT2. Feels like more power and torque, all accross the power band and more responsive to inputs that the 996 GT3. Could this car be a daily driver, certainly if you can manage the low kerbs
Do I like this car? Yes, however it is very low (lower than the 996 GT3) and again more like the GT2.
The suspension in normal mode is tighter than the sport mode in the 997S. And in sport mode it is track ready, yet there is great deal of compliance. Unlike the the 996 GT3 there is no dartiness (and yet more alive) with the car, it is confidence inspiring in every way, and at about 4000 rpm the sound is to die for, after 4000 rpm can't say yet because I will break it in properly by gradually moving up the power band.
For those of you worried about the sunroof, there is oodles of head room. I got the adaptive sport seats and having lowered them all the way there is about 6 inches of head room, sitting pretty far forward. It will be the rare individulal that will have a problem with a helmet in this car.
There is not a creak or a rattle.
The ceramic brakes literally take your breath away with their bite and feel.
I know I have made it harder for those of you waiting for this car, and I don't apologize one bit.
