992 vs 997 GT3RS Comparison Video

Had the opportunity to take my highly modifed 997.2 GT3RS and a 992 GT3RS out on track back-to-back thanks to PECLA, so I made a video about it. Figured you guys may enjoy! Yes I am a cornball YouTuber but also a thoroughbred nerd and spend way too much time here so I wanted to share.

The 997.2 is my absolute unattainable dream car that I somehow managed to attain. I don't need to preach to the choir here on how it is the greatest sports car of all time.
The 992 GT3RS looks insane. Almost too much for the street. We joked a lot about how sad it is that a majority of these will literally never see a track but honestly, it is so frikken docile on the street. I guess if you can handle the attention it wouldn't be hard to daily drive. Unlike the 997 RS which is a bare to drive at low speeds.

My 997 has 33k miles, full Dundon D4 power pack, JRZ RS Pro 3 way suspension, OS LSD, GMG Kinematics, swaybays, rollbar, and gurney flap, Girodisc rotors, BBS e88 (991 spec), 255/325 Yokohama AD09.

The 992 had 10,000 pure track miles. Never been driven on the street! They said they havent done anything except fluids and tires. Pretty sick!

Love the channel Vin, keep up the good work.

That 7RS you have is an absolute dream car, you did very well getting one with all the mods, especially since you actually drive the thing hard. Never sell!

I've been really enjoying your videos. You represent the driving enthusiasts and the 997 so well, keep up the great work!

Thanks guys! These things are so robust they deserve to be driven. HOWEVER I praise this thing for being a tank so much and it finally left me stranded with a major coolant leak although my lines are pinned. Thinking heater hoses or expansion tank. Need to check it out when i get back.

No real plans to sell but i have my moments where I want a 997.1 non RS with high miles and accident or paintwork to have more care-free fun. But i doubt i can sell this.

Nice video.

Expansion tank is a known weak point on all 997 cars -- it's plastic and cracks will form in due time.

You kinda left us hanging there at the end… 997 or 992? :burnout:

Nice video.
My take on your question: Unless you have access to a track or live in a country with no police/speed control, the older car wins hands down for driver’s enjoyment on the road.
The new ones just do too much for you, you need to be doing stratospheric speed to start feeling the thrill of driving.
I surprise myself short shifting from time to time just to have to heel and toe.

When did you do the Dundon D4? Do you run the early 100mm TB or the later 93mm?
Any impressions on it?

Nice video and thank you for sharing.

997 GT all day.

Enjoyed it as well. Thanks for sharing. When did they stop making 88 center locks? I wanted those for my .2, but was under the impression the 07 was the only option. Irrelevant for me now, but still curious.

I put in for a GTD allocation… if ford is dumb enough to select me then I’d love to do some content with you :)

How do you feel about the $300k msrp on the GTD?

FLT6SPD 05-10-2024 02:01 PM

Spartan 997.1 or 997.2 RS all day, everyday over 992. I own a 992 Turbo S although the 992 RS is amazingly advanced and a different animal but the overall driving style with pdk is similar and the wife enjoys driving it.

Enjoyed the video, but do not sell.

Your car is amazing looking! I would keep it, but 997 all the way, if you sell and go with a more worry-free-example, you would not be the first to do so.

I would pick the 997 for sure. I enjoy the 992 but i feel the experience is easily matched or closely replicated by other new super cars. The 997 is unique. Nothing drives like it.

I run the 93mm. We tested with the 100mm and found the 93mm (hellcat i think) TB was optimal for peak power and mid range TQ.
I have nothing bad to say about Dundon. Great and quality stuff and people. I think you can notice a bit of low RPM slouchiness from the intake manifold but the HP bump is definitely a punch.
I have street headers with the loud steel muffler and it sounds good at low rpm and cruising but I miss my old JCR Ti setup under WOT and high RPM.
