100% agreed, even with my LED headlights with the gunmetal internals. The sharp contrasting silver ring, especially on my black car, doesn’t seem to flow. I was asking my PPF installer if he had any options to slightly tint (wasn’t gonna go all out speedster black out) but he didn’t. So I just stuck with the full edge to edge custom PPF that covered the main oval plus the silver ring (normally the precut template excludes the outer ring). If I find a good solution I’ll let you know. I’m looking to tint it a slightly darker shade but not eliminate the factory design altogether.

I dont think there's a cheap way to do this and replicate speedster DRLs. Potentially open up the DRLs and paint some of the interior pieces black.

eBay sells headlight trim pieces but not convinced on quality, maybe we can both take one for the team, lol! I can check in the 997 forum, lots of adventurers there, lmao! (As I am still!)

There was a sponsor on the site that looked to sell a good replacement lense they had both regular and speedster options.. I must have misread the comment I thought you were talking about the speedster DRLS. not the main headlights.

Def back for me!

Btw what tips are you running...are those double lined? I dropped my muffler about 1/4 inch because i noticed some heat soak on the black trim when my tips were that close.

Kline exhaust center section with 101mm tips. They are double lined. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some damage/heat soak on that black trim.

oops, I thought your original post in which you blacked out the headlight housing, you were referring to the contrast to the “ribbed” design silver ring around the headlights. I wanted to tint that ring on my headlights but the only option I’ve seen is that trim product I pasted from eBay. I thought you mentioned the speedster headlight ring in your original post, which is black from the factory.

I wasn’t referring to DRLs in my response and I reread your post and I don’t think you were either! In my build thread we are definitely conversing about the DRLs, though, so that may have been the mixup.

LOL I do get confused easily. Ki Studio sells a good vinyl which covers up the silver ring. Link: https://kistudios.com/product/porsch...eadlight-trim/

nice! Great option. How come you didn’t go with one?” I want to try this out and see if it would attach to PPF; I’ll ask my ppf guy. Having trouble picking the color too. I feel gloss black is perfect for my black car, but if I opt for viola metallic, would anthracite look better than black? Especially with the gunmetal headlight housing…decisions decisions!

I would need to go black instead of silver for all trim across the exterior trim pieces. This means: Speedster/black trim Headlights, Speedsters DRLs, Black Wing uprights. I decided I like silver with the white/blue color way on the trim pieces. Maybe different color ways the black would be better.

That makes sense. I have similar tastes in terms of silver going better with the white/blue. It’s the darker headlight housing that, if money were no object, maybe a lighter shade like gunmetal or anthracite would go better vs straight up black housing.

Been a moment since I spent some quality time behind the wheel of the RS. @gjenk and I took advantage of a rare nice winter day here in the PNW and decided to do The North End Tour from Dan's drives. It was an enjoyable 300 miles with the RS. @gjenk purchased my old RS wheels and refinished them in Weissgold for his 997.2 GTS Aero and it looks amazing. Photo dump:

Two mighty fine Porsche 911s on that drive, and you just know that I'm a little bit partial to Weissgold myself!
