Nice list for 2023. Is that cupholder the entire unit or just the covers? My car is cupholder delete but i think i can spare the weight addition for the convenience.
Super bummer about the thickness of the seat cushions. I was actually considering seeing if i could find someone to make mine much thinner opposed to installing lowering seat brackets. When i track my car I run an alcantara Sparco cushion and the increased headroom is perfect. Would like a more permanent solution.

When I inquired with Kim at P1Designs about thinner foam, she mentioned she could make the foam 3/4" thinner than stock. I believe stock P1 foam is 2" thick. She told me this would cost $50 additional. This was in 2020, not sure what has changed since then.

For the 997.2 RS cupholders weren't standard but a no cost option. So both our cars don't have the option. I am just wanting to install the cup holder mechanism back since I would enjoy being able to have drinks when driving.
Talk with Kim from P1Designs they have a ton of fabrics and I'm sure you'll find something to match your desired colorway.

Hey Elliot, one thing to be aware of: the OEM carbon trim for the cup holder and small “triangle-ish” pieces on either side of the steering wheel had the carbon weave rotated 45 degrees to make “diamonds”. All the other carbon pieces are laid as “squares”. Additionally, it has a cup holder logo silk screened on the trim in the center, you can see an example here: https://bringatrailer.com/wp-content...364-scaled.jpg
The reason I mention this, DB Carbon isn’t able to silk screen the cup holder icon on the trim — I didn’t ask them if they could rotate the weave as it was a moot point without the logo. MACarbon will both rotate the weave and apply the icon if you ask them. I replaced all my cracked OEM carbon in my GT3 during a few years ago. I had MACarbon do the cup holder trim, and DB do everything else. It all matched perfectly.

Edit: Contacted DBCarbon and they can do the rotation.

Last year, I did a cosmetic refresh on a 996 GT3 that I picked up during COVID (covered in this thread). It was a logistical nightmare acquiring all the parts — many of which I was told were no longer available, only to have them show up 8 months later with parts that were clearly warehoused somewhere in Germany for 10-15 years (storage dust included). It spooked me a bit with regard to the 997 cars. I’ve started to jump on some of the unobtainium parts and storing them for an eventual refresh.

I've been enjoying the additional conform and easier exiting the seat for street usage. For track days I play on tacking my OEM set with me and swapping. The only permanent solution I know for lowering the 997 buckets is available from Cantrell. They have an adjustable seat bracket which goes lower then stock. Lowest setting is 1.25 inch drop. Product here: https://cantrellmotorsport.com/produ...side-mounts-2/

To further the glove box trim, mine is also pulling away or sagging and it bugs the hell out of me. So a cupholder will be a welcomed addition. May try to repair my trim before sticking it in storage as i've had no luck sourcing a oem trim piece.

Regarding the cushions… I just removed the foam that my butt rests on the bucket seat in my 987 Spyder and replaced it with thinner foam. Now I sit a whole inch lower.

Thanks for the info. I've read mixed reviews on the Cantrell lowering brackets so i figured the easiest and best fitting situation would be a thinner pad. Likely will go custom on retain the stock unit as well.

Awesome thread! Inspired me to do my own! I love lightwerkz, right in my backyard in NJ. They did my 4runner all up and now will be taking care of my 7.2 GT3 as well. They plan on doing a video install of the new morimoto 992 retrofit lights. Also felt your pain about the LED side markers, lol. I was lucky with my narrow body that the Diode Dynamics smoked markers matched my black paint perfectly and fit nicely. Will update pics in my journal soon!
