I don't think interesting really. Guys reality on these is market is 100-140 unless a true 'collector' level mile example. Green and orange command a premium. Silver a discount (I love that). Its been that way for a while. IF you wanted an exit and hoped to 'profit' that ship staled at least 6mo ago. And the bottom was in 2012 when the 997.2RS was the hot thing and you could get one of these sub 100k.
In the meantime, this car has been driven and enjoyed 30k miles and if it were mine it would do 100k more.

But as a driver, and where I hang out (which is mostly with 80+ local PCA members, all of which hang out daily on a private chat group that I built to organize drives & have daily conversation), are all drivers too,... and most ALL prefer metallics. Seems the older driver crowd, who someday fancy themselves in a sportier GT car, prefer metallics as classier, not flashier. So when it comes to driver mileage cars, I tend to agree with comments like above.
.... imo the best GT cars out there seem to be those in the 20k+ mileage mark, and should be bought to DRIVE. The prices should be lower. Depreciation should happen. They were held by owners who bought them in their prime, and decided to drive them (& maintain them),... and the market prices will reflect that. I expect depreciation. And if it turns out otherwise (like my 964 Turbo did w/ my 80k miles), then so be it.
20 years from now, a 40k mile 997 GT3 will be a "collector",... so to me it really doesn't matter. ... or it'll be dead due to electrification & it still won't matter.
I plan to enjoy it regardless.
I'm a bit loopy at this hour anyway,... so I'll probably re-read my comments tomorrow and think what the heck was I talking about. .... back to work for me.

I started out years ago as much a collector as a driver. But I found collecting brought me anxiety and headache. Driving brought me fun and a release. As such i sold ANYTHING that I didn't want to keep 'forever', several years ago. My problem is I fall in love and want to keep too many cars 'forever' including my own recently fast depreciating 997.1 frog . I own a bright green, a yellow and a red. A white, a black and two silvers. I've had most any color in between. Variety is the spice of life. YMMV.
At the peak of values, I think my frog gave me more anxiety than any car I owned because it felt like it had more collector value baked in than anything else i owned. As opposed to CGT that felt like it was priced as 99% unique drive experience and 1% collector.
I hope I own a 997.1rs 'forever'. It has more nostalgia factor for me than any p-car due to my first 911 ever being an 07 Gt3. The smell, feel and sound of it take me back to that first turn of the key that hooked me. The froggy is my fav representation of the 997.1. So given my specific tie to the car, I could see me letting go of much more halo-ed cars than a 997.1rs and make some people tell me to have my head checked.
It changes over time, but I'd say I'm in this hobby 50/40/10 driver/social/collector. And even that 10% probably brings me 90% of the headaches and stress associated with the hobby.
For me, it's the track, back roads and coffee/bs with people afflicted by the same disease; all colors, conditions and vintages welcome.

So, I actually think the market for these is getting thinner...while I freakin' love them, they are hard work to drive but super rewarding. Hard work in that the clutch is a bear making it a true weekend only or event only type car.
More and more people are more than happy with PDK and yes PDK is phenomenal.
The 997.2 has a much lighter clutch making it more usable.
Yes I'd like to add one at some point but I've been sitting on the sidelines waiting for the prices to drop and I'm confident they will sadly as it's a monster of a fun car.

991 made GT cars WAAAAAAAAYYYYYY more useable, functional and versatile. 997 a borderline masochist experience. But damn they are connected vehicles. Sometimes a 997-like car makes me wanna blow my brains out in the wrong traffic/road/etc, but give me the biggest thrill and/or zen-like experience in the right conditions. Sometimes the 991/981-like cars bore me to tears but other times truly amaze me at how capable they are at almost EVERYTHING. if not a really hard-core car guy/gal, i think most people pick the 991 overall-experience. I want them both, and a few others for good measure. But, gun-to-my-head, pick only one, i just pray the gun is empty

I am surprised it has much of a premium. I like the color, but to me, it wouldn't be worth more than a few $K over any other color. The people paying $40k over are going to be collectors and those hoping it will appreciate, which eliminates this car. The rest of us must REALLY like green to pay that kind of money. I personally set my "paint color" budget at around 7% of the price of the car, meaning I am willing to pay an extra 7% over what it would normally be worth if it simply the world's most stunning (to me) color that I would rather not live without. I suppose if I had unlimited cash, I may feel differently, but color preferences change over time and today's color premium may disappear down the line.

^^^^after owning enough 997 gt’s, I’m convinced it’s more of a function of clutch use/abuse/life than it is gen 1/2/rs when it comes to how stiff or easy it is. This is all anecdotal. They seem the lightest and smoothest the day after they are installed, regardless of gen. They get heavier with more use, esp “spirited use”.
