Advice for Suspension Dialling in for 6MT GTS

I need advice please:

Just purchased a 997 GTS and want to improve the handling (sharpness/turn-in) without breaking the bank.

I have earlier 911's and usually go to Elephant Racing packages as a turn key solution.

The cost of a 997 package is $12k (+ install) and gave me a heart attack.

On the basis of best bang for buck, for a canyon carving car, what mod's would you recommend?

The car has 32K on the clock and not been tracked regularly.

Thanks in advance.

No personal experience but this thread is located about 4 posts down.

I bought Tarret GT3 LCA's that allow for some additional negative camber up front. That and an aggressive alignment will do wonders for a low price.
My car is a bit lively on the highway but on winding roads the turn in is super crisp. Talk to a race shop about striking the right balance for a car driven on the street.

IMO unless you are building a race car all you need is the following

1. two piece front control arms, stock outter, monoball inner (Taret, RSS etc)
2. two piece rear, again stock outter, monoball inner
3. rear toe links without rubber inserts.. you can use an outter link from a stock front tie rods (no not a type) and inner monoball piece from taret I believe
4. Upper wishbones optional, I like stock, most of the lateral force is handled by the control arm so a little cushio on the top links is not a bad idea
5. Bigger sway bar if you do not have an adjustable setup.
6. 10 or 12 mm shims in the fron control arms to give you more play room for front camber

I think we are talking 1-2 grand for the stuff above.

Have had a very bad experience with this on a 996 GT3 I owned, hated it (maybe wasn't set up correctly), the car was very unsettled and spun too easily. It was not faster either on the track over stock set-up. In NZ a lot of us played with DSC controllers etc in 997/991's and we all removed it, the cars are unpredictable on the track with it. Maybe just an issue of insufficient support on the other side of the world. But wouldn't touch with a barge-pole...........
