New to me GT3

Just purchased my friend’s GT3 - 2007 silver with 41,000 miles. Car was listed for sale on Rennlist and other places for awhile and I finally couldn’t help myself and bought it from him. I have loved the car since he bought it. The car has been tracked but the driver is very meticulous and careful - the car is spotless and has clear-bra over the entire body.

i plan to track it some but at 8/10ths. I will probably put in the DAS sport bar he included in the sale. He used it with GT2 seats which I was not interested in paying for (foolishly I suppose) - someone else bought them. It has Girodisc iron rotors. Coolant lines are pinned.

i am planning the TPC - DSC as my only performance mod - maybe check the LSD down the line.

Are there any suspension mods that make the car NOTICEABLY more fun / easier to drive on track that don’t bother the street driving? I don’t need it to be faster but more predictable without road harshness is good with a preference for stock.

anybody swap the driver’s seat for track days? I have an enclosed trailer so no need to street drive with a race seat? Thanks

Congrats. I just bought a 2010 from a friend and love it.
I used to swap seats for track days in my old car. It's easy and takes about 20 minutes.
I have a decent 996 GT3 Seat that I don't need anymore if you're interested.
It's just sitting in the garage, I'll give you a good price.
My GT3 came with Carbon Sport Buckets.

I’m interested- PM me

Anybody track these with the stock seats? Maybe not the right forum for this question but are we safer with 3 point and airbags or a seat and harness but no air bags when it’s only a roll-bar and not a full cage?

i have a 944 turbo race car with a full cage and containment system and still figuring out if I’m keeping both cars.

You can but I found the repetitive high load corners strained my lower back. Plus, when you use a 6 point harness you can really feel the car dance around instead of fighting sliding around in the seat. The feeling of just being bolted down is hands down the best mod I ever did.

So true, being able to not have to hold your body in place with your arms and legs is a game changer.

I've had 944 turbos forever... I purchased my GT3 nine months ago while my 951 was taken apart. I haven't even looked at it since. I have owned it since I was in college, and recently I find myself thinking about selling it as a project just to get it out of the shop. I'm guessing you'll lose interest in the 4 cylinder quickly.

As far as upgrades, The GT3 rear toe link is a huge pain to use with the cam style adjuster. If there is an upgraded version with a hex adjustment that would make life easier during setup. I haven't even looked because I'm using the car for a stock autocross class and I need to keep the stock parts.

Agree, except I have a built 3.0L with larger intercooler, turbo, etc. it’s very well set up. in the 951 - when I get it dialed in which should be soon it might be faster than the GT3 - and might not be, it hasn’t been reliable (little stupid stuff). Plus the consumeables are way cheaper for the 951 and the handling is very good. I’ve always liked the 951 but it is a pure track car and certainly isn’t the car that the GT3 is as a foundation. I’m enjoying the GT3 as a street car in the meantime.
