gt3 engine tunning

Hi
I was thinking to upgrade my GT3 997.2 engine as i feel there is some lack of torque at low rpm.
I saw cobbtuning accessport, any thoughts about it?
I am using the RS fly wheel and clutch on my car, so instant revving is not a problem.
Thanks

I think your only "real" options are Cobb AccessPort and Sharkwerks' EvoMSit tune. I personally am using a Cobb AccessPort as I have a 3.8L build on my 997.1 and the Cobb AccessPort allowed for a custom tune from Dyno Spectrum (guys that worked on developing the Cobb AP). I have not tried their "off the shelf" tune that is included with the Cobb AP but I reckon it's fine for small improvements, and the nice thing with the Cobb AP is that you'll have the option to get more out of it with a custom tune later if you want. Plenty of guys are using Sharkwerks/Evolution Motorsports' EvoMSit tune with no issues.

Not sure what to tell you beyond that. Your question "any thoughts" is pretty open-ended. Uhhh....I could tell you that it has a sleek shape and funny looking buttons, or that I think the OBD-II cable that's included is a hair too short, or that they should offer a faceplate option with real carbon fiber and not that fake hydro-dipped one. (Not really, I don't care about that, but you get my point.)

Do you have any data of how much gain in power you got from the tune?

Your perception is correct.
The 997.2 engine is not designed to have significant TQ at low RPM.
That is one reason why driving one is so interesting / rewarding.

Embrace the reality

Have fun.

If you said you were looking for better throttle response, then I would say go for the tune. But since you are looking for torque, I don't think a tune is going to be the answer. The only real answer for torque would be a 911 Turbo.

The cobb increases low RPM torque significantly. But it's never going to feel like a V8 or a turbo. Nothing else will feel like a 911 turbo except a GT2 :)

Look at the dyno chart here dude. It's their own website. Scroll down.

imo, 997needs no tuning.
you should never let it drop below 5000rpm.

I bolted Fabspeed headers on my .1 and the increase in torque from 3000-5000 RPM's was very surprising. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

same here, the dyno before / after showed 21 lbft gain @ 5000 rpm. the map shows the separation starting at 3000 as voodoo states. i went with dundon catless race headers + their center muffler.

Easy solution change the R&P ratio :)

I agree. Did the 997.2 RS trans ratios on my 997.1 RS and it transformed it. Great change, but somewhat costly (all told with Guard diff and new clutch/RMS) runs about $11-12K.
